Red does go well with black. As do most other colors. Nothing "edgy" about that, in my opinion, black is just one of those colors (let's call it a color for the purpose of simplicity). Porygon-z, I love the little guy along with his line, the idea he upgraded too much, losing its bulk but gaining more power was a nice one.
Ninetales, simple and majestic, I really like its appearance and its entries on how it can cause curses to those who touch its tail against its consent.
Mamoswine, giant pig from the ice age that can wreck dragons, why not? also looks powerful and comfy to ride around on
Dragalge because poison/dragon is a cool combo, it was kind of weird since I expected a water/poison but i'm not complaining.
Banette especially after it got its mega, not something I would mess with but a shame its really mediocre at best.

Worst:
Gyarados, overrated, looks nothing like Magikarp and the design just screams edgy to me. If it was red then I might like a LITTLE better, blue just looks retarded as fuck on it.
Medicham, those proportions are horrible and it generally looks stupid, thin ass body and thighs as fat as a walrein? why?
Musharna, floating fetus thing, enough said.
Magnezone, it looks like suffering to be one, especially one of the smaller ones on the side.
Ambipom, it went from cute monkey into some nasty ass thing, its nose and hair look awful as fuck.

I really want to use it in battle but that would require soft resetting for good IVs and nature for hours and I'm not quite that autistic. I think in the future, when it becomes an option, it'll be the first and only Pokémon that I gen.

I meant things they try to make so ugly that they seem appealing. Like the first three blobs of pink mentioned, or Purugly's entire concept. Mr. Mime doesn't fit that bill, I just hate him for childhood fear reasons.

Weezing, however, and other "ugly," "scary," or similar Pokemon come off as ugly and "cool," whereas Pokemon like Aromatisse seem to scream "I'm awful to look at but notice how pink I am! I'm still adorable!"

I would never get tired of looking at Metagross, if i could have on IRL i would buy it, Haxorus is my favorite dragon and it has an absurd attack stat with good speed, Milotic has been my favorite water type since it was introduced, and she has been in every team i make since then (Yes, mine is a girl), Lilligant and Froslass are just cute.

Both of these are actually on my team at the moment. They're not the strongest- but the beauty sort of makes up for it.

All of the Pokemon I use have to be 'pretty', with the exception of my mono-Bug team and Forretress.

Indeed Serperior is something else. It embraces the Pokémon concept so well, being not too realistic but not too cartoonish, it's got a nice theme, being regal, the patterns are so nice, the color palette. I love it.
In the same boat, I'd say shiny Dragalge looks so stylish, so detailed but at the same time it fits with the rest (for comparison Kingdra looks too bland, round and a bit silly). It was a true surprise for this gen.
Just to name one per generation I'd say Articuno, Suicune, Swampert and Cresselia.

Speaking of animals- and Mudkip evolutions I'm always baffled as to whether Mudkip or Wooper is supposed to be based on an Axolotl. Both of them could be, I guess.

But I definitely feel you on just liking the attitude of a Pokemon. It's why I can't help but love Pyroar- even though it's not the most creative design or the prettiest.

As for the dive ball- I can't really bring myself to invest in something I'm only going to see occasionally.

Both are based on the axolotl, although I don't know what the hell is going on with Quagsire.. But indeed the impression a pokemon gives out is something that can make you like one over the other.
