Kind of. This one is based on the concept for the Pokémon's origin but I think when it wasn't clear they just defaulted to where the creatures live.

I looked through all routes and areas listed here: http://bulbapedia.bulbagarden.net/wiki/Desert and made a couple logical leaps on my own, like adding Natu and Xatu because their designs are based on some Pueblo Indian concepts.

It's by no means an authoritative list, and there are probably some that should be taken off or added, but I felt an urge to do it after I couldn't properly answer a "What pokemon would you have in real life?" thread here on /vp/.

No Abra/Kadabra/Alakazam/Mega Alakazam in Israel?

Kadabra was based on Uri Geller, a Jewish occultist, his name in Japanese is based on this name too.
Alakazam had a hexagram on his forehead in the Japanese version of Red/Green (if you played in black&white)
Mega Alakazam has his head shaped like a hexagram.

People often say Hypno and Probopass are Jewish but in reality it's this line.

I'm sure it was discussed, there were a couple threads dedicated to making that chart ~2012/2013. Who knows why it ended up in world.

I'm not gonna change it now. Maybe I'll make a thread dedicated to updating it for sixth gen and fact-checking things in the future, since I didn't pay much attention to the threads back when it was actually made and I don't even know why half of them are where they are.
