This is it. Lucario is the only 'fighter' pokemon that they'll put in, none of the Gen 5/6 'mon are recognisable enough (other than starters, and they don't fit the same mould).

Mewtwo is the only other possibility. We still might get a second Pokemon Trainer though, that's what I'm realistically hoping for the most.

If we're being unrealistic though, I'm secretly wishing for pic related

Jigglypuff will be in no matter what, she has immunity since she was in the original. Mewtwo might make a return, although if he does make it he'll probably be unlockable. And Pokemon Trainer might make the cut, either using Squirtle/Ivysaur/Charizard or Froakie/Braixen/Chesnaught.

Greninja is the most popular final evo (especially in Japan), bipedals are easier to animate so Chespin for first evo instead of Fennekin, and then that leaves Braxien for the second spot.

Then he got outright replaced on Pokemon Sunday by Lucario for BW2

Seriously this is why you don't make event-only bullshit. Nobody could even like Zoroaork because nobody could get one without having two DSes and having gone to an entirely unrelated event months prior to BW even launching.

gen6 reinforced the franchises dedication to these two pokemon rather than replace them. zoroark was similar to lucario but didn't recieve any attention in gen6 and fell from being very rare to easily obtained. flabebe is the only gen6 pokemon which really recieved any special attention and it isn't a real candidate for the game.

I'd personally say Fennekin/Quilladin/Greninja. Besides, they've shown they don't have THAT much of a problem with animating 4-legged creatures, what with Ivysaur and Pikachu being playable characters.

Froakie's being prominently featured in the anime right now and it's unlikely he'll evolve, so he'll get the most exposure. Braixen has moveset potential over Fennekin since one could actively see her hitting around with her stick and stuff. What's Fennekin gonna do that Pikachu already doesn't? It can like, breathe fire, headbutt a bit maybe, but that's sort of it.
Chesnaught is there because we need more bowser-type characters

Mewtwo will probably mega evolve by using a smash ball. The B button activates for Mewtwo X and holding the Down direction and pressing B transforms him into Mewtwo Y.

Supposedly this is one of the test rosters that was leaked, and it corresponds with the Little Mac trailer besides Little Mac himself, but he is more than likely a secret character so my bet is a Mewtwo return.

Our favorites have hopeless chance of becoming playable, but Pokeball or hazard Pokemon is another thing. Maybe Porygon-Z can glitch out and teleport in and out in random locations on the stage before finally stopping near an enemy player and firing Tri-Attack.

I probably wouldn't buy the game if this were the case. I'm not an autist when it comes to tradition, but Captain Falcon was my main and 4P Falcon Punch only Mute City matches were the best with my knuckleheaded roommates.
