>>18121355Ice / Steel
Pros: The most defensive of any ice typing we're gonna get. Neutral to rock, and can even hit it SE. 4x resists ice, so a great partner for dragons.
Resistances in all: Ice / Normal / Grass / Poison / Flying / Psychic / Bug / Dragon / Fairy
Those are pretty good resistances, it's just it's weaknesses which are...
Cons: 4x weak to Fighting and Fire, and 2x weak to ground. Those are some massive weaknesses. But it really is just three, and while common, not every pokemon carries all the coverage or even has it all. So defensively it could work, the problem would be offense. Having both stabs resisted by Fire, Water, Electric, and Steel is a problem; thankfully, ground coverage would hit three of those SE.
Ice / Poison
Pros: Grass, Ice, Poison, Bug, Fairy resists are all nice. Since it's poison, means it can't be toxic'd and would pick up tspikes.
Cons: Weak to Fire / Ground / Psychic / Rock / Steel, so about equal amount of resists and weaknesses. Terrible stabs offensively; everything and it's mother casually resists poison, steel's immune, and it's only neutral to most forms of priority.
Interestingly, Ice would help cover poison's weakness to Ground. Poison could hit some pokemon that resist ice; Azumarill, pokemon with thick fat could be hit by a secondary neutral stab, Fire types, etc. If a Fire/Fairy or Ice/Fairy ever materializes, they would be prime examples.
Which leads us to...
Ice / Fairy
Fairy is just a godsend as a defensive typing. Only two weaknesses while some pretty amazing resistances.
Pros: Resists Ice, bug, fighting, dark, immune to dragon, neutral to fighting, but can hit it SE.
Cons: Walled to death by Fire and Steel (especially heatran). Worse, it's 4x weak to steel (burrito punch), weak to fire, poison, and rock.
Ice Fairy would be sort of the ultimate fuck you to dragons barring Reshiram, CharX, and Dialga; all the typings it's weak to are weak to ground as well.
