No one is talking about it because it's shit and the system won't work without a ton of unnecessary math. Tier systems are used because they don't need to be mathematically accurate 100% of the time. An arbitrary point system does or it will be completely imbalanced.

I've seen that system be used once or twice in tournaments, played actually once. It proves to be quite amusing as it demands higher flexibility and knowledge, as opposed to building your team around expected threats from each tier.

As for popularity, god knows. As far as it goes, as I've said, only played it a few times. Most of the time tiers are still the method of choice.

Seems like an interesting concept, but keeping it balanced is going to be a constant issue. New sets for that meta will start sprouting up, and useless shit might suddenly be pretty decent when paired with some Uber monstrosity. Will the useless shit's point total go up? Will it then inevitably vanish from use? Will its point total go back down then? It just seems like an inevitably flawed system. I like the principle, but the logistics are rough.

My point isn't even the Ubers issue. I just mean that point totals might fluctuate too wildly to be reasonably predicted. It works in the short term as a miniature meta, but over time, the point totals will have to be adjusted constantly. It's just logistically unreasonable.

one of the teams shown in his team list has kyurem-w alongside 3 ou mons, with only 2 uu mons needed to compensate

another has blaziken alongside 3 ou mons, with 1 uu and a single shitmon (a geodude running a standard 5th gen golem set)

the video also shows how completely broken the point system is, with threats like terrakion costing less than ru/nu mons like steelix and probopass

pokebattle has potential, but the point calculations need a hell of a lot of work

It also takes into account movesets too I think. They have plenty of time to tweak the cost for these 'mons, after all, it is beta.
