Why didn't Raichu receive a mega evolution? Regardless of mega evolutions, why Pikachu or Raichu were not made TRULY competitively viable via some sort of mechanism? Light ball obviously doesn't count, as Pikachu is still meh while holding it.

For God's sake, Pikachu is the fucking franchise mascot, it shouldn't be so forgettable competitively and in-game.

Add to that the fact that Electric is an awesome typing both defensively and offensively, but still has very few competitively viable Pokémon. Electric is a rather forgettable type, but it shouldn't be.

Also, Game Freak obviously gave Charizard not one but TWO awesome mega evolutions because of Charizard's popularity, so why can't the same be done for Raichu?
