Now that the series proper has made the jump to 3D, are console spin-offs like Stadium, Colosseum and Battle Revolution completely redundant and irrelevant?

There's no reason they cant do a handheld series and a console series having them both sell well

Of course that would mean finding the right balance between similarities to not make them seem to different with enough small differences to make both of them worth it
So it wont happen, /vp/ loves the devs to much to give them that kind of pressure

How does that even remotely make sense?

Super Mario had CGI console and handheld games too at the same time and so did practically every franchise ever.

Because the whole point of Stadium and Battle Revolution was fighting with your pokemon in 3D, plus some party game stuff thrown on the side. Colosseum and Gale of Darkness at least tossed in a storyline to that.

Consoles and handheld games keep selling

MMO or yearly consoles would in no way destroy the main handheld games but /vp/ shits on those ideas because most of them never play anything else, they're not really familiar with the gaming industry besides maymay so think any side series would utterly bankrupt GF

Oh, I should probably clarify something. I'm not talking about all the console games like PokePark Wii, just the ones that link to the handhelds for battling/pokemon transfer.

You'll still have better graphics on a home console than a handheld.

Also, the gap between the two games would be a lot smaller and you probably could battle in real time against console users with your 3DS without only seeing the title screen on it.

I'm not saying they shouldn't. I'd love to have a full-blown Pokemon game on the WiiU. I just wanted to hear peoples' thoughts since X and Y basically fill the same niche as Stadium did. The game would definitely need a good storyline, though. It seemed like Battle Revolution was pretty thoroughly loathed.

3DS animations suck ass and are too short.
They don't actually have the scale and atmosphere of the console games.
Examples?
Metagros meteor mash.
Kangashkan physical animation atack
After-hit recovery animations
Earthquake
Every battle background fell dull and small, even stadium 2 stages felt huge.
And last, No commentator
