I think it'd be a better idea to advertise the tournament primarily as what it is - a monotype tournament. There are people who won't be able to participate in the actual league challenge, like mato for example, and so it's important to clarifiy that while the top eight are allowed to become Gym Leaders for the next season of the challenge, that's not the sole purpose of the tournament. Just having monotype battles with each other is in itself something that should be pushed as a selling point of the tourney.

If, in the top 18, you can't find even 8 people who want to run the Challenge... Well, I find that pretty unbelievable.
Also, WILL/W3: how in the world are you taking level 1s to le Wow for exp? Do you do nothing but Super Training? Super Training is fine for really custom EV spreads (88/252/88/80), but on your typical 252/252/6 pokemon, horde training is twice as fast. Horde EV training gets you some exp. By the time you head to le Wow, you might be level 15-30 already!

Training Attack with the EXP O-Power is a good way to make sure you're not grinding Le Wow for ages(That is if you're doing a spread that involves max attack)

Stuff like gen 1 birds, gen 2 dogs? Their power is perfectly fine. Regis? Almost a bit too weak. Lati@s? I can see them being too powerful. Lake trio? Should be fine. Cresselia? I dunno, up in the air. Musketeers? Terrakion's really the only problematic one. Genies? All of them are too powerful I think.
As much as I'd like some of them to be usable, it just creates a bigger can of worms as to why X is allowed and why Y isn't, blah blah, whereas just "no legendaries at all" is less contrivertial

I just don't think the idea of legendary Pokemon fits with our Gym Leader concept. No Gym Leaders use Legendaries.
A big part of this thing is teambuilding, breeding from the ground up. And you can't breed legends. Which splits the legend-users into people who would bring legit but imperfect legends, and people who cheat. I realize many of you don't have a problem with cheated Pokes, but I don't think it's something we should encourage or foster in our competitions.
Legendaries were barred from use in the season 1 tourney and challenge, and I think it's been the right decision and we should continue that rule.

Plus, being able to switch moves with such fantastic type coverage is great. Focus sash is probably better than AV, except that Heliolisk is more of a Water-type counter and pivot in general, and doesn't pack the raw power to make Sash as effective. It's complicated.

I started with Para Charge on my Heliolisk, and quickly learned that you end up not killing anything with it, replenishing worthless HP on a defensively-worthless Poke, and eating a OHKO. Thunderbolt gives you the power you need to KO things.

eelektross for another ground immunity and some good utility (superpower, rock slide, knock off, drain punch, coil)

magnezone has a fuckton of resists
stunfisk's got a pretty neat movepool and is pretty specially bulky
heliolisk's also got a pretty wide movepool compared to most other fast electric types

We could always go through each trio of legends and then decide which ones are too strong and which are too weak -- I'd think any of the gen 1-4 ones would be fine. Gen 5 is where the power creep really peaked
