seeing as it is not a guarantee that you have a shiny after 1365 tries, just the chances are 1/1365 and i just got a shiny helixgod after 26 eggs this means that OPs chances are actually 1/2730

It's still under investigation, but Gen VI has a double chance to get a shiny from other gens, and it may apply to Masuda. That means a reasonable population to expect one is in 22 boxes. I'm not sure if it's legit though. Got my shiny Yamask in 20 boxes.

To clarify, genned dittos do work. As long as it's from a region other than your own, can be germany, japan, korean, anything

Every shiny japanese 6IV you see people using in the masuda threads are genned

Ive come to realize that I need a modest squirtle to make any use of it. So far every nature has been neutral or shit. sooooo i'll probably Gen one after I find one.

There's no reason a genned ditto shouldn't work, as the only prerequisite to activating the masuda method is breeding one pokemon with another from a different part of the world (AKA one of those lil language tags in the summary page)
