>>18151780Everyone saying how great Mega Banette was were talking about it's design. Gameplay wise almost everyone realized it was shit, piss poor movepool, odd stat distribution and it's Mevo ability not working on the first turn killed it. It's not remotely similar to what you're describing. Really Banette's movepool is a crime against humanity, it got a overinflated 165 attack and it's best attacks are Shadow Claw and a not even very strong fucking 2 turn move.
On the other hand of the scenario you are asking about.
>RhyperiorEveryone flipped their shit when they saw it's stats in Gen 4 and it's weakness reducing ability. It never amounted to much because Solid Rock was only a 33% reduction and Ground/Rock was still a poor typing especially in a Generation dominated by dragons.
>RampardosGen 4 had a lot of overhyped mons and this guy was another. Needless to say the recoil and speed made sure he never made it far.
>ElectivireMUH GYARAVIRE CORE. Needless to say it never worked because people simply brute forced through it with Tangrowth or dragons again.
>HaxorusRivalry, Dragon Dance, 150 attack and dragon type? Everyone went crazy for it till they saw it's speed and defenses and it never amounted to much other than Garchomp-lite.
>ChandelureThis is the finest example of how stupid and presumptuous the fanbase is. They were so 100% certain of it having Shadow Tag despite it never being released just because it was in the code that you saw entire metagames being created around it. It never materialized, then Gen 6 came around and it's ability was Infiltrator. It effectively rendered half of Gen 5's lifetime of sims wasted because they wouldn't stick to legally available things.
