Is it best to go for glass cannon/choice scarf or try to do something around defensive stats and roost to avoid being at 50%- HP?

This thing has more than enough power to wreck shit, it needs speed. Scarf is the best option.

If your oponent has no poke above that speed mark, he's probably shit.

And since SR damage prevents you from switching out, the chances you'll get revenge killed or brought to 50% health are high.

Uh, that's not the point. There has not been nearly enough speed creep this gen to make 110 speed in gen 6 as good as 90 in gen 5.

OP, you will not be able to run it defensively at all.
Roost is useless in too many situations since even some weaker pokemon will be able to get archeops down to less than half (or almost half) in one shot.

Like what >>18167237 said, although I hear going in scarfed and replacing acrobatics with aerial ace works too.
Occasionally I'll carry no item at all just to take full advantage of acrobatics.
Oh, and OP... thanks. I needed some archeops to brighten my day~

People saw Defeatist and immediately trashed Archeops, anyone that's actually fought one knows damn well it shouldn't have been in RU in B/W and is probably a tier or two too low in XY as well
