What I dislike with the newer gens is this new standard of kawaii first forms. First stage pokemon don't even look fun to use or intimidating at all. Instead we have big-headed, smiling first stagers to replace pokemon like rattata that actually looks like it wants to fight and not cuddle.

These pokemon actually look like they'd fuck your shit up if you didn't have any pokemon to battle them with.
But seriously, why are first stagers so shit and babylike now? Not threatening at all. Gen 2 was bad for this as well. Gen 3 was good, most first stagers didn't look like they wanted to be coddled all day.
