In this safari, the first of a species you encounter will be a shiny, and the other safaris have the same rate as wild pokemon. This explains why hunting a lot in a safari might get you nothing, but once you change safaris you might get one quickly.

I usually just hang in safaris for hours and eventually the shiny I want shows up.
