That would be me. The first one took ages, I'd spent several hours in that safari, and days before that (it's where I do most of my grinding)
The second one I found pretty early, I'd say within 20-30 minutes of entering
Not sure if this has any relation to the theory though..

Coming to think of it though, all three of my safari shinies have been of the third Pokemon

My shiny excadrill was the 3 species that appeared. Yesterday my 2 shinies testing this theory were the 2nd species to appear. All of them were the first encounter of their species.

I decided to try the safari method and after 3 tries I got this on the second encounter.
The nature could be better but it has the HA at least and 31/x/31/x/31/x IVs. I have the charm.
What to turn him into though? I'm leaning toward Espeon for Magic Bounce or Sylveon for Pixilate...

It was the first Eevee encounter, second species when I entered.
I've also had a time a while back where I found a shiny Espurr in a safari with that same pattern--first Espurr, second species encountered.

Here's what happened to me
>few weeks ago
>cleaning my PC, releasing some shitmons to make space for living dex
>find Love ball Timid Ralts, 5 IVs wrong spread
>decide to breed for a better Ralts since I never tried Mega Gardevoir
>put it in daycare with my 6 IV Ditto, everstone and knot
>get a full box of eggs, hatch them

From that single box I got about 10 5 IVs, wrong spread, 2 pentaperfects, 2 hexaperfects and 2 shinies, both 5 IVs, both wrong spread, one male and one female.

I trained the female (it had imperfect Defense, but it's Gardevoir so who cares) use it a few times and now it's boxed, Gardevoir isn't that good anyway.

I'm currently MMing Chespin, Chesnaught best gen VI shiny.

Fair enough, but as I was saying earlier, isn't it just as important we record as many safari encounters as possible?

It does no good to just mark when we find shinies early on, we have to make note of those that happen later or else we're cherry picking.

Yes but you're just guessing about those times you entered/re-entered, which would not be an accurate representation. You left a majority of those entered blank. (Unless you actually do happen to remember each one.)
You can post about the ones that happen later too, it's not like I'm asking for early catches only.
I don't know how much I have a say in this since it's not my document, but I think that it'd be better to post shinies you are sure about than the ones that you don't know about. (I have a bunch of other FS too but I can't remember the encounters for almost all of them.)

As John is suggesting, pretty sure when scientists refer to something as a theory, it's something with so much evidence supporting it that it's more or less regarded as fact within the scientific community.

If it doesn't have ample evidence to support it, it's called a hypothesis.

More than one of my science professors in real life have brought this up.

I mean, it doesn't necessarily matter that much when it comes to pokemon, but if we want to be more "correct" I guess we should call it a hypothesis.

If there's a large enough sample then the difference between the real thing and the result of the testing would be so small we can say it's pretty much 100% accurate.
Of course hard evidence would only be obtained by accessing the game code, but the difference between 99% chance of being true and 100% doesn't mean nothing.

It's kinda like what those folks at smogon did when they tested MMing with the Shiny Charm, but they were very organized and tested lots and lots of eggs.
