That's all true, but generally one discounts the worse-selling item to stimulate sales, not the one that's selling fine at the higher price point. Assuming that Y is selling better, that's a reason to discount X, not Y. If Y is less expensive, there's some other reason for it (probably related to Amazon's prices taking into account merchants selling items secondhand).

I get your point. But to me it makes more sense to discount Y. If it's already selling better at a higher price, reduce the price so that Y is still more expensive than X, but enough that people will take notice and buy even more Y.

X has better pokemon exclusives and stones though, y got the shittier exclusives, but it doesn't really matter because you can get any pokemon you want at this point anyway. It's all dependent on the stone exclusives you want, so if you don't care about that go for the cheaper version.
