Doing a No Pokeball Run in Yellow.
The choice between Eeveelutions is easy, as is the choice between Hitmons.
However, which fossil is the better one?

If that's what OP's getting at, then it's a 6/10 ruse.

Otherwise, just pick whichever would be better for your team. If you need a special attacker, Omanyte. If you need a physical attacker, Kabuto.

Since I'm naive and think this is an honest question, I'll give my opinion.

Helix fossil is probably better thanks to Omastar's higher special. It lets the cephalopod use Blizzard to rip apart Lance's team and makes Surf more powerful against Blaine (Although both Kabuto and Omanyte rape Blaine).

Kabutops is still fine; its high attack lets it use Strength and it learns Swords Dance. Unfortunately, it can't learn Rock Slide.

Aerodactyl sucks and is dead weight. Awful typing for the endgame, awful movepool, just the worst. Don't use it.

You should consider that the number of available Pokemon in a No Pokeball Run is very low. 16 in Yellow, I think.

Available for purchase: Magikarp, Abra, Vulpix, Wigglytuff, Scyther, Pinsir, Porygon

Awesome, I always just assumed that because the rival got Abra. I'll try to grab one on my next Yellow playthrough.

Jolteon is definitely your best bet for Eevee unless you want to use Pikachu all the way.

Of course Jolteon is best. Vaporeon is a water-type among Gyarados, Blastoise, Lapras and Omastar/Kabutops, and Flareon is just bad.
