Someone says "Megamom is BANNED" and so many people flip their shit, seemingly not realising that a) it's legal in the only pokemon format that has actual tournaments and prizes, b) even if you play Smogon rules you can play it in Ubers and c) you *don't have to play by smogon rules anyway*.
I hear people talking about facing OU:The Team in Doubles or even VGCs, seemingly little knowing that OU is just a term about usage rates within a fanmade rules pack. It's not some sort of integral stat that the pokemon has, and even if the mon appears outside Smogon rules 6v6 Singles its role and moveset is likely going to be different.
Smogon itself and its ruleset are fine by me, I don't play using them but understand why they're an attractive concept. Having smogon tiers as some sort of universal concept and trying to apply them to other forms of battling is moronic, though.
