Y's for drought and is a nice special sweeper, but X is good for typing and mixed attack shenanigans, or just catching your opponent off guard since almost nobody runs X. Even better is if you have a shiny one to further confuse your opponent if you mega. They're both pretty good, designs notwithstanding.

Gen IV starters all had second typings that made them SE against the one they were supposed to be SE against, though. Torterra is part Ground, and Empoleon gains Steel, which makes him weak to ground.

Gen IV has the best fucking starters type-wise.

Well that's new
By the way, no one uses a mix ZardX when you have an ability that is basically a recoil less Life Orb for contact moves, and you have access to Dragon Dance.
That single combination allows ZardX to mega up and DD on the first turn and then fuck whatever comes up.

well I manage to destroy Charizard Y's with Water Pulse. X's eat the hit.

Even Jolly Dragon Claw does a clean 60-70%. Adamant Dragon Claw does a minimum of 65% and maxes out at almost 80. If Blastoise is below 70% health (not an unlikely proposition, seeing as how it frequently switches into hazards in order to spin, and has no recovery) It's staring down the barrel of a KO. It's not a counter to Niggazard, nor is it even a particularly good check.
