All I know is I wouldn't start killing people unless someone hurt my SO- so that's kind of the strength of the relationship I'm perceiving to exist here. It doesn't have to be a sexual one, but it's still stronger than what I would consider "I just like my pokemon."

Well, I didn't really have a head-canon about Sycamore other than he was a bit of a slut (like the man-slut in kill la kill), but after seeing that image you posted, my mind has sunk to the gutters of shit fanfaction tier speculation: Why would Sycamore need you to research mega evolution if the other gym leaders knew all about it? Why wouldn't they just tell him? What if Sycamore was basically Team Flare's head scientist (not Xerosic..was he even head)? The other leaders suspect something's off with Sycamore and won't tell him all the secrets, so he has you be his guinea pig and report findings to him on mega-evolution, as well as having a research team in his building studying pokeballs to capture any and all necessary Pokemon for Team Flare

That would be pretty cool, but GF just plain ol' doesn't do subtlety. It's like that N=Zoroark shit from last gen--mindblowing, makes enough sense, but way too subtle.

But moving on from Prof Baguette, I really REALLY wish there was more Kalosian royalty/AZ lore. I am fucking autistic about examining everything in vidya for DELICIOUS FLAVOR TEXT and it KILLS me that there are so many shelves/bookcases/trashcans/TVs/potted plants/etc around that have the same text box. I want optional but interesting worldbuilding tidbits god damn it.

I think the idea is that since he was friends with lysandre and gm leaders probably knew lysandre was crooked they didnt trust sycamore. Sycamore was oblivious to all this but later realizes lysandre isnt all he seems to be and he sends his assistants to snoop around. Gym leaders were jsut being careful

To comment on this, I was given the impression at the megaevo tower or w/e that Sycamore wasn't worthy to flat out be handed info about megaevos (some dude says he was there when he was younger and left/was asked to leave?).

The problem is that we don't really know how intelligent the Floette line is. There's a couple Pokemon that are basically just like dogs in the real world, but there are some that are just as intelligent as human beings. Floette could be anything to AZ, from just a pet to a surrogate child. If it was more like the latter him going totally apeshit would make a bit more sense.
