It's a far more reliable counter to a mon that can take a Conkeldurr Knock off or +2 Mega Luke Crunch and survive. (But can't take a +2 Mega Luke EQ)
If anything the Steel nerf is a buff to Aegislash because Ghost now has ridiculously good coverage and allows Mixedslash to hit a lot of defensive Steels hard with the Shadow Ball/Sneak combo.
