There's no way CharX can switch in on Venusaur. It can only go for the revenge kill.

Set up hazards with deoxys. When your opponent switches into a defogger, switch into bisharp. Get the attack boost. Sweep. I've never tried it myself, but allegedly it's really effective.

Neither is better.

You use hazards with both Defog and Rapid Spin. You don't make hazardless teams just because of defog. Some top teams don't even have hazard removal at all.

Rapid Spin has Excadrill and Tentacruel, Defog has Latis, Skarmory, and Mandibuzz. Both are good, anyone who says one or the other is for scrubs is bad.

Mega Venusaur can't reliably switch in on either Charizard. It's also a shaky check to both since it depends on what move Char X uses first, if Char Y has Air Slash, sleep clause or the presence of SR (since sweepers will try to have hazards out before starting the sweep).

Charizard X can't switch in on Megasaur since it has a chance of being 2HKOd. It's a shaky check as well because it depends on what move Venusaur uses first. Obviously gets damaged hard by SR.

Charizard Y can try switching in (3hkod by stall Venusaur) but unless it has Air Slash, Venusaur can just synthesis stall out the sun since sun helps synthesis. It's a reliable check only if it has Air Slash or if Venusaur already has prior damage. Air slash is only recommended for Megasaur though since Drought Fire Blast does more even on fighting types. Also gets damaged hard by SR.

So in short, they all fulfill the roles that's expected of them. Char X is expected to sweep so the less stuff that can possibly switch in on him or stop the sweep, the better. Char Y is expected to be a nuke or wall breaker so it kills your enemy's current pokemon or damages switch-ins so much they can get KOd with another hit/rendered unable to stop your sweeper. Venusaur is expected to chip away at the enemy team while being hard to force out. Char Y needs to have Air Slash or prior damage to even check it so that's a testament to how good Venu is at its job.

Just be happy that they're both very good now. Just think of the other starters that didn't get megas and Blastoise.
