Yes. It can carry its own weight for sure but then you have to ask "what could I have that does what this thing does but better?"

Granbull is viable without it, as a nice physical sponge and fighting type check.

You can replace Heal Bell with anything really, he's got a great movepool.

Not physical Dark and Dragons too? I can't think of any physical fairy weak Dark type that would pack a poison and steel for coverage.
Krookodile with Iron tail? Tyranitar with Iron Head? Steel Wing Honchkrow? Yeah, very view can heavely dent it.

Not physical Dark and Dragon check too? I can't think of any physical fairy weak Dark type that would pack a poison and steel for coverage.

Trick Room general?

How do I reliably make sure that trick room is constantly active?
At the moment only half my team are trick room exploiters and even then I only really manage to set it up with Cofagrigus, maybe try a nasty plot sweep and then fall back onto Megabomasnow.

Well, even with Intimidate, this set takes a fair bit of damage from neutral physical moves. -1 Garchomp's EQ still 3HKO's it. I mentioned fighting check because it's a really nice way to take care of Conkeldurr, who normally goes around unchecked.

This sounds good, at the moment I've been running trick room and thunder wave which doesn't work for obvious reasons so that might be a nice alternative

I hate to burst your bubbles but Granbull is a cool pokemon who sadly doesn't pack the bulk to do the job he sets out to do. Maybe in the UU environment he is okay but like someone else mentioned he takes too much damage from neutral OU hits to survive for very long.
