Dark is effective against Ghost, because Ghost need the Dark, but the Dark doesn't need Ghosts.

Dragon against Dragon because only a Dragon can kill another Dragon.

Psychic is mind over matter and thus resists Fighting, as well as being less prone to psychic attacks themselves. Also, Psychic being a metaphysical concept, Poison has little effect on them. They are weak to psychological fears; Fear of bugs, death, and the dark.

Ghosts are effective against themselves due to existing in the same material plane as one another. attacks are more effective when launched on both sides. However, Dark types, who do not fear the macabre and grizzly attacks of ghost types, are resistant to their attacks. Normal types represent a disbelief in the supernatural, and cannot harm ghosts, but neither can ghosts harm them.

For electric: this is complete nonsense. Steel is neither a great conductor nor insulator of electricity so it would be kind of silly for it to either be be weak to or resist electric.

I always hear questions about fairies so let me throw my two cents in

Fairies are strong against dragons because Dragons are slain in fairytales.
They are effective against dark types because dark, representing mischief and ill intent, is lost upon innocent creatures such as fairies.
They are resistant to bug attack due to their penchant for being creatures of nature; nothing of the forest can bring them harm.

However, this brings them their weakness of fire. Fire destroys nature, their home. Poison works to the same effect, corrupting their habitat. Fairies were typically thought to be repelled by Iron and other metals, giving them their crippling weakness to steel.

Fighting still kinda stumps me, I guess Fighting types aren't able to bring harm to childlike fairy types...?

Ice is weak to Rock because, like Fighting, Ice can be shattered by blunt forces like their kinds of attacks.

Bugs flourish in the dark, making it their habitat of choice. Fighting types fight with honor, while Dark types use trickery and cheating to win. "Cheaters never win" and all that feel-good stuff.

Dark isn't "darkness," it's dirty tactics. The opposite of fighting type, which is more honorable fighting. Think about dark moves: bite, feint, sucker punch, night slash (which is a reference to ronin highwaymen cutting people down or some such historical thing) are all dirty tactics. That's why fighting beats dark: It's pretty much just the more honorable triumph. I think the justification that dark beats ghost is that while fighting types follow the rules and can't touch spectres, dark types break the rules of engagement, and can therefore best them.

Or maybe they just thought ghost needed more weaknesses.

I like the idea, but in most myths fairies were assholes. I'm referring to the Irish mythology of the "fair folk". Especially elves. But, I'm no expert.
