I don't know about that, I got my SS second hand for roughly $30 two years ago, then XY came along and it was suddenly the same price (still second hand)

Back in 2010 I bought mine for $25 at a pawn shop. The tab for the Pokewalker was still in there, and the the game itself saw about 2 hours of gameplay.

I kindly asked the people there to hold onto it for me until I got the money scrounged up, and they did. Best purchase I made.

First party Nintendo games and the Pokemon games rarely if ever drop in price. Wal-Mart's still selling Super Mario 64DS for full price. Of course, they were still selling .hack//Outbreak for 50 bucks well into 2010

They're still expensive because you still need them to complete the dex without trading or hax and because Nintendo has made it clear that they're going to make the pokemon in the games as long-lived as possible.

Not to mention that each Pokemon title is essentially the same game, with no guarantee that a game's features will move to the next generation. Look at HG/SSs' touchscreen interface compared to BW. Sometimes Nintendo takes a very deliberate step back with this shit.

I bought mine new in a toy store in a nearby city in let 2013 after a long Pokémon hiatus.
Then I came back home and read how rare and expensive HG/SS are, even used.

I later returned to that store and bought Black and White for 25€ each. Small, local toy stores are a treasure trove sometimes.

Nintendo games do not go down in value. Shit, Ocarina of Time 3D still costs full price and this is a game that Nintendo has given out FOR FREE several times (I have the one bundled with Wind Waker as well as a collection that was bundled with Majora's Mask and the NES games from an action a few years ago).

What I don't get though is who would pay full price or almost full price for a secondhand game. If I have to choose between a full-price new game or a second-hand game that's five dollars cheaper I'll just take the new one.

Forgot to add, for HG/SS it's even more of a rip-off because you don't get the Pokewalker. Not that it's an expensive add-on, but it would be nice to get if you're paying full-price or more for the game which would have included it.

Gonna keep my Soul Silver mint for a few years then sell it off. People eat this shit up thanks to nostalgia, I'll be sure to get some decent money for it.
