What did you think about the games? I'm about to buy a 3DS with Pokemon Y and wanna know what I'm in for.

It brought me back to pokemon. That's because of the breeding mechanics, I have Y, but I might aim for getting X to have on my 3DS just so I can play the main game over and over. Plus transfer pokemon over that I couldn't get from Y, which is that Huntail.

I love it
Last gen I played remotely near release was Gen 3
I just picked up Gen 4 a few months ago and never finished Platinum
It feels like the most personal installment in the series to me. Just all the customization between my actual character and how many options I have when it comes to my Pokemon. I love that TMs are reusable. Breeding is somehow actually fun for me now and the EV training feels like less of an arbitrary time sink. Would buy again.

I've played since gen 1 and I basically skipped gen 5- I know lots of people praise it as being the best gen but I played up to the second gym or so before I just went "meh" and went to play other games.

I was probably just burnt out on the series because I quite enjoyed gen 6.

White and Black from what I heard had a improve story that was more involved. Post game is you only have Maison/ battle tower. Pretty fucking easy, because people can't seem to beat the game. 72 new pokemon, which is the fewest pokemon created as of now. Black and white had 150 new pokemon and other's hit 100+. Mega stones made some overpower pokemon such as Kangaskan. That wish/protect/yawn/ seismic toss set is fucking bullshit. That's because she can hit twice.

Don't. There's an offer on Club Nintendo right now that if you buy and register a 3DS with any one of the six specified games in March, you can get Pokemon X or Y for free (digital).

The six games are Mario Kart 7, Super Mario 3D Land, Animal Crossing New Leaf, Expand Dong 3D, Lego City Undercover and Yoshi's New Island.
