I am seriously considering keeping my copy of Y, taking my copy of X to gamestop and trading it in for credit, then buying myself a copy of New Leaf or Donkey Kong just so I can basically get the free game. Essentially I'd be paying about 12 bucks for a copy of a brand new 3DS game, both of which I've wanted to try out and not actually losing the game that I already own.

Apparently you can't use the serial number for this promotion, you need the actual PIN. At least that's what I've heard from other people. If you bought it used/refurbished or you lost the Club Nintendo insert you're shit out of luck.

The serial number is what is printed on the 3DS system itself and is 11 digits. The PIN number is the number on the CLub Nintendo insert that came in the box for the system and is 14 digits.

I just put my serial from the back of my XL in and then it asked me to put in my PIN code as well to get my coins and register. HAd to go find my box with the booklet and inserts, and the number was different.

So yeah, you need your PIN code to complete registration and be qualified for the free game.

I know you can register with just the serial number, I've done it myself. But other people are saying they can't get the free game even with the 3DS registered unless they also registered the PIN. I don't know why that would be the case (maybe they registered it a few hours too early and are confused about why they can't get the free game?) but I just want to make sure I can still get it without the PIN which I don't have. I need someone who registered their 3DS today with just the serial number AND registered one of the games and got their free copy to verify this.

Apparently you have to register the PIN and not the serial code. The PIN is on a piece of paper in the box of the system.

I just put that in after originally entering the serial number and I got my code for X.

I redeemed the code, and got to the screen saying I don't have enough memory. I'm going to order a bigger SD card. I want to be sure, so if someone could answer, I'd appreciate it:

1 - If I copy the data directly from this 2GB card to my desktop, then transfer it into the 16GB card I'm going to order, the data will be fine, yes? It won't mess up?

I had bought a 2DS in December and Animal Crossing in January and didn't register either and didn't get the code with the game because I downloaded from the eshop

I emailed nintendo yesterday and explained and and registered my 2DS today and got a reply stating that she looked up my eshop account and added the pin for animal crossing and that I can login and get the code for the game
