It's an excellent pivot, switching in and out and tanking hits. Most physical attackers can't break it without a super effective hit, and the AV set has roughly the same amount of bulk on the special side.
If you're not using AV, Slack Off is the best choice for the fourth slot. Psychic is excellent for dealing with Cloyster, but Psyshock can help against stuff like Blissey.
If you don't need Fire Blast, Slack Off on the Assault Vest set isn't a bad idea. Slowbro can easily take most Knock Offs, and the extra healing is always useful.
I saw an EV spread a while ago that was something like 252 HP / 240 +Def / 16 SpDef. I don't know if it helps avoid any 2HKOs or anything though.
