Myself, PC games in general, including massive amounts of KoTOR II. Just a fun game in general, right up to the end but not including it.
HGSS is what usually brings me back, with its bright color scheme and shit, though the level scaling is fucking painful.

I've decided not to in the end since Steel coverage sucks and I really can't afford to miss given the lack of PP. Once I get through Mt. Moon I can't run back to Mom for health + PP (since no pokecentre run) I have no source of extra PP until SS Anne, and that's temporary.

I'd go with Facade or Weather Ball depending on which damage stat is higher. Weather Ball's p. useless without weather, Facade is p. useless without status.

X Wonderlocker again.

Just beat Lysandre. There was a close call with his Gyarados vs my Sylveon; I didn't expect it to be carrying Iron Head. It thankfully wasn't a crit, and Ferrothorn is such a bro that he was able to mop up the rest with Iron Barbs + Rocky Helmet.

I'm not quite dedicated enough to Wonder Trade Xerneas. It's going in the box to be transferred to my main game since I need the data anyway.

No deaths since last update. Current Team:

-Gyarados, Lvl 53 (Sassy)
-Serperior, Lvl 54 (Jolly)
-Sylveon, Lvl 54 (Calm)
-Ferrothorn, Lvl 54 (Bold)
-Drifblim, Lvl 53 (Rash)
-Delphox, Lvl 53 (Timid)

This team is definitely coming together. Pretty much everyone here's a bro now, though Drifblim and Ferrothorn have been here since the first two trades, so they're super special. I really hope those two make it to the very end.

I'm playing a Platinum Nuzlocke, and I just beat the eighth gym. What level should my team be before I face the Elite 4? I think that level 57 or 58 sounds about right. For reference, here's my current team:
NO PARENTS the Crobat (lvl 46)

Eccentric emerald is a bit harder though not like BBVW. Emerald 386 has the level curve increased a lot but no stat/moveset changes or physical special split. I'd recommend Snoopy's Expert Emerald edit which improved some stats from the original Expert emerald and implemented some gen 4-5 moves and the PS split, as well as some gen-6 themed changes i.e. ampharos being part Dragon, changes to knock off etc

Just a small revision.

Decided to use Super Training to fill out Kite's already almost-maxed EVs and get two Dusk Stones through it. I may have lost Overheat, but there's always Fire Blast and Flamethrower riding off of Ignis' phenomenal special attack, plus Shadow Ball as a TM. Just about the only thing Capone misses out on is Mean Look, too, and in normal play, that's almost useless since the AI nearly never switches.

Also, route corrections, because I was silly.

Durant and Sandslash again seem more viable than Sliggoo at this stage, even if Goodra is a very good Dragon type. Also going to train Jigglypuff up until at least Lv. 50 before using a Moon Stone.

Started a Y Nuzlocke earlier today when I didn't have access to my computer to continue my FR:Omega run, and it's going surprisingly smooth my party composition is currently:

Fennekin
Pidgey
Butterfree
Farfetch'd

I just got the first badge. It was fine until I got to the leader. I was a little underlevelled, which I wasn't expecting, and it came down to the wire. Ended up with my Fennekin against her Vivillion which used Infestation so I couldn't swap out. My Fennekin was a level below and it was really close. Ended up beating her with Fennekin at 1 fucking HP. I was so worried.

After healing up and heading to Route 4 I encountered a Budew as my first Pokemon and caught it. I've never actually trained a Budew before, so this'll be interesting. I normally hate Pokemon that level up by Happiness though, so I'm a bit worried about getting it to evolve in time to learn some really good skills. It is level 8 at the moment which means it already missed out on Poison Sting which Roselia learns at 7.

I want to get it to evolve before I hit level 19, and I'm just wondering what is the fastest way to raise it's happiness so it'll evolve? I'm only just getting to Santalune City so my options for extra items are really limited and I can't get massages.

Experience Share got so buffed in X/Y that it removes challenge. IMO it's still viable and very useful in earlier gen runs because it only splits XP with one party member.

The key thing is that in older gens it didn't actually increase the amount of experience you got; it just let you divide it more easily. In X/Y you end up basically getting 350% experience from every fight.

Pokemon Amie doesn't affect friendship for evolving, does it?

And speaking of which, I assume Amie is frowned upon in Nuzlockes, since it can give some really good benefits for maxing out.

It doesn't; affection and happiness are tracked as separate stats. Which really sucks, honestly.
I used Amie once on my Wonderlocke; to meet the bare minimum reqs for Sylveon. It's up to you whether you want to use it but it really goes against the general spirit of a Nuzlocke in my opinion.

Sylveon was a true bro. A true bro. He carried my team through some real tough spots. This is the most painful one, probably.

I've got a Flabebe, which would serve as an almost... ALMOST identical replacement... sigh. But it's also -SAtk natured. Other possible contenders are Heliolisk, Pancham, Conkeldurr, Deino, Goomy, Tynamo...
I really like the Fairy coverage though.

Also is the gift Gen 1 starter from Sycamore allowed in Nuzlockes? I know trades/gifts count as an encounter, but as there are no wild Pokemon in Santalune City, it's the only encounter. Not sure if it counts for one of the other routes, or if it's just allowed.

Sylveon will be death #7. Riolu, Bibarel, Frogadier, Kirlia, Charizard, and Talonflame are the others... a lot were simple things like crits, others mistakes. Why did I leave Charizard in against a Heliolisk? What possessed me to do that?

Sacred Gold mate, much better level scaling but much harder difficulty, all gym leaders have 6 mons, 493 mons available and what not.

And my run is continuing well, lost my Bidoof to Onix in Union Cave then caught that Onix, then lost Nincada to Proton in Slowpoke Well, then lost Onix to first gym trainer in Azalea.

So went to Ilex Forest and caught me a Butterfree and grinding team up to 22 to take on Bugsy

Thinking of starting a Sacred Gold run soon. It's been at least 6 years since I last played Gen 2, so I have a feeling it'll feel really unknown for the most part as I remember very little about HG/SS's progression or gyms. Plus Sacred Gold would add a ton of extra Pokemon and challenge on top of it. I think it would be a lot of fun and would pretty much be like a blind Nuzlocke run of a game.

Only thing is I pretty much only play in the late evenings, so I'd running into a lot of night-only Pokemon. I always hated that feature because I rarely play in the mornings or afternoons. Might set my clock ahead by twelve hours so the game is day-time when I'm playing in the evenings.

Alternatively I could just play FireRed Omega. Would probably be just as unfamiliar. I've barely touched Pokemon outside of XY at all in the past 5ish years. And I don't think I've ever played Gens 3 or 4.

Just beat Bugsy had a stroke of good luck when it came to his Scyther and managed to get a freeze off Ice Fang on him first turn, then missed next turn with the same and he thawed out turn 3 and killed Brutus with a Sword Dance boosted Wing Attack, brought Jolteon in and outsped and finished it off.

First playthrough of a version is also played as nuzlocke. It could be first time playing an official X/Y or the first time with a new rom hack like Blazeblack or whatever. It's "blind" because you don't know what's around the next corner, as long as you don't cheat with guides/bulbapedia.

Sacred Gold is fairly difficult, unless you manage to snag an electric type early on Jolteon will most likely be your best upgrade. The game will be a breeze if you're able to get a vulpix, it's really easy to set up with flamethrower, calm mind, substitute, and drought Just be patient and do lots of grinding, it is a lot of fun.

When (if) I catch Xerneas, does it have to go on wonder trade? I've been playing that anything I catch with a pokeball needs to go, so I would be inclined to say yes it needs to go, but would there be arguments for ,keeping it? because it would be really nice on my team.

Also, I got a second Charmander, so that'll be nice if Smaug dies.

Well, just stick with the type that you want to have.
If a Pokemon evolves into a type that you're using that's okay as well.
Generally you don't Pokegen your team though, but I see nothing wrong with it.

Aside from that, everything else is whatever you want to make of it.

I would personally trade over a Ditto (that can't battle) so that if you get something like that level 39 Snorunt early on you don't get screwed over and can just breed one. Of course you'd have to go with the first egg.

Also if the traded pokemon doesn't have a nickname and you're anal about that kind of stuff you could just breed for that too.

Geodude will wreck them, trust me. Trust in him and his dorky gen 1 haircut. Rock throw will take them out. Obviously you want to balance it out a bit more when you can, but, for now you'll be fine. Plus Ratata is an early game powerhouse, and Togepi can pull some serious work too, so don't worry.

Starting a Nuzlocke in Black 2.

Standard Nuzlocke rules, if a pokemon faints, it's done, can only catch the first pokemon encountered in each location.

In addition, I'm imposing a couple of other rules. Firstly, I can't fully evolve any pokemon, ever. Secondly, no individual pokemon on my team can reach a level more than 10 higher than the next gym leader's strongest pokemon. If the gym leader's toughest pokemon is at level 25, none of my pokemon can go over that until I beat them.

Should be pretty fun.

Team flare fucked me up, Ophosis is dead and three pokemon were under 25% health when I squared off with Xerneas. No further losses, but all I got for Xerneas was a floette, which will be nice for fairy coverage I guess.

I found out that Seadra is a total bro when it came in to cover for smaug being at 12 HP and singlehandedly took most of the lower section of the base.

The Seafoam Islands were easy enough to tackle and we picked up a few new friends along the way.

Pokemon Mansion was a pain due to constant encounters and exploding Koffings but nobody died.

Fat Man and Nessie took care of Blaine's pokemon with little difficulty. With the Volcano Badge in tow, now we go back to Vermillion City and get the last badge.

Here, have a template I threw together for a Pokemon Yellow run I abandoned.

I just can't seem to play Gen 1 games anymore. Loved them as kids, but they feel too slow and clunky by today's game's standards. I feel spoiled by nice features, physical/special split, and being able to run. I feel bad because usually I love older games, but I just don't think Gen 1 has aged very gracefully. Not even with muh nostalgia. I kind of wish they'd do a remake of Red and Green, with an option on both carts to play a Yellow variant. A Gen 3 one would be neat too

Anyway, enough rambling, enjoy the template. The boxes might be a little small and need to be stretched out to the right though. I think I'm just going to start Sacred Gold and see how that goes instead.

Inkay is by far the best thing I have. At this point everything else could die and I think I could still solo the game with it. Contrary is a fucking godsend and it gets Swagger, Foul Play, and Hypnosis really early on. It's a damn shame its evo looks like ass.

Skiploom is still irredeemable horseshit after four generations (I thought Game Freak finally got that "no STAB moves before level 20" bullshit out of their system, apparently I was wrong). Phione is pretty crap too and almost died twice already. Everything else is fairly solid.

This is the best Nuzlocke I've done in a long time. I know I got stupidly lucky a ton of times but, I can't be happier with the final results. P/S split makes Emerald a lot more interesting to return to, Every Pokemon I got felt perfect, and none of them failed when I needed them to perform. Shouts go to R-66Y and Bongo though, they pulled a ton of weight since I caught them, but, goddamn, whole team was fucking awesome. What really surprised me if the zero casualties. I know Emerald isn't the hardest game to run, but, I was waiting for some type of bullshit to happen, but, it never came. I guess that really comes to show if you just play smart you don't have a lot to fear, even under stricter conditions. I really recommend applying that patch to your Emerald game if you're going to run it. I'm going to take a small break for a moment, but which game should I Nuzlocke next?

Started Sacred Gold earlier, this is my current status as of just arriving in Violet City.

Was so excited to run into a Seedot as my first Pokemon on Route 30. He is fantastic. Also Gidget, who I caught in Rout 46 is surprisingly tough with Pound. Starscream (first Pokemon I caught) is doing alright so far. I was extremely bummed to run into a Bellsprout though on Route 31...hopefully Sacred Gold made him useful. We'll see.

I've already suffered my first loss, and it was devastating. Decided to run into Dark Cave before going to Violet City to see what I would catch in there. Bumped into a Teddiursa who turned out to be the destroyer of hopes and dreams. It only took one Fury Swipes (x4 hits!) and Uso, my Eevee that was gifted to me by Cynthia, was gone. I was so tempted to just kill it as revenge, but I caught her instead. I'm sad to lose my Eevee so soon, but I gotta keep on going if I'm ever going to beat Red. RIP Uso.

As I post this I realize I shouldn't be using Seedot, since Cynthia gave me the Eevee first. Not sure how gift Pokemon are usually handled, I might allow it though because this is my first Nuzlocke and some leniency might be nice to ease me into the challenge.

I lost 10 pokemon to carelessness, 4 specifically to Clemont.

RIP Charizard, Scyther, Crawdaunt, and Gothorita.

In attempts to bring a new team up to snuff I lost several more, but I managed to keep my Starmie, which allowed me to grind some Le Yeah Rotation Battles.

I have stabilised, I hit 9 total pokemon as my lowest, not terrible, but I did have to use a bunch of negatively natured guys, Jolly Delphox and Impish Florges.

I've got a Jolly Eevee waiting to become Leafeon.

Yeap I won't disagree there, I usually grind up to about 12-13 and take it on, Head Sage has a Hoot-hoot with Hypnosis and Air Cutter and will usually kill 2 team members.

I started a nuzlocke and am having some serious trouble. It seems like everything is out scaling me and random trainers sometimes have some really strong pokemon.

I think this game must have been balanced for exp share or something (which is awful). I really wanted to do an X nuzlocke but it seems like it would require too much grinding.

I'm nuzlocking X right now and I just got to the part where you get a free Lucario. In the mega evolution battle it got hit by a crit and fainted. It wasn't technically in my party until after the fight so I'm not sure whether to keep it or let it go. Are there any rules that cover this?

The romhacks work well on Flashcarts. I used to play Sacred Gold and Volt White on flashcarts.

For GBA roms/hacks I have to emulate though, and it's kind of nice being able to speed up for grinding and dialogue. I've been emulating Sacred Gold for my current run as well actually just because I've gotten so used to my 3DS XL that my old DS Lite feels way too small anymore.

Really? Might be worth looking into. I still have my DS Lite laying around somewhere, use it very rarely for my R4.

It'd be nice to be able to play any of the Pokemon games and romhacks on my 3DS though.

I recommend emulators. I can't imagine doing nuzlockes without a fast-forward feature. Having to sit through the different games' always slow as shit dialogue over and over when you inevitable have to restart would drive me crazy. It's also nice for grinding quickly.

Not sure if I want to restart or trying Gen 4 instead.

I spent what feels like forever grinding up Treecko Wingull since I figured they'd be great against this rock gym. But fucking Rock Tomb 1HKO'd Wingull and dropped Treecko's speed so low that I couldn't absorb fast enough, and then all I had was an Abra, Poochyna, Silcoon, and Zigzagoon which all were equally 1HKO'd. I couldn't find anywhere decent to grind up for the battle which also annoyed me, was getting crap exp from wild Pokemon.

Oh well, time to start a new run once I decide on which game.

We made it to Indigo Plateau. Giovanni was a complete pushover and was destroyed by Nessie and Egg Head.

Rival Borf put up a good fight, but we managed to beat him with no losses. However, Flappy didn't survive the trip through Victory Road. We acquired a couple new fighters on our way here.

I swapped out Apollo for ClubbrLang Because I "Don't want no Has Been's in our corner". Actually, He almost died 5 times on the way through Victory Road and I feared for his safety.

I don't think we can win at our current strength, so I may train a bit more before the Elite Four.

Well made it to Ecruteak no losses, was looking good, got Surf, then headed to Burnt Tower to get first catch, got a Duskull.

Then I headed towards my Rival, and engaged him in battle. He sends out his Murkrow and I send in Butters. We exchange attacks for a couple turns, I healed Butters up and then bam.

Critical Wing Attack. RIP Butters. So I brought Busta in and swept the remnants with him and Batman.

Headed to Route 37 for a catch which was a Nidorina, then headed back to Burnt Tower for some grinding when again a team member fell.

This time Biffer, my Pinsir, fell to a Critical Selfdestruct from a Koffing. RIP Biffer.

Now I've headed back to Cherrygrove and hatched Togepi there, gambled the rest of the day in Goldenrod to get Bios, my Porygon, and enough TM's to flesh the team out a bit.

Gonna get everyone to 30 then head in to take Morty on.

Shalour and the area around it proved to be a killing field. I soldiered through the cave without taking casualties, but, prior to entering the Gym, with my 'Mons around his in terms of levels, the battle with Calem claimed my Minun and Wartortle, and a Pursuit from a Tauros took my Solosis. Even before then, prior to Grant, a crit Pursuit from a wild Absol felled my Pansear, that trainer with the Axew took my Farfetch'd and Ledyba, and even while Charmed, Grant's Tyrunt killed my Floette.

I stand on the verge of Coumarine's Gym with a little concern; while I have recently caught a Tentacool and Skrelp, I have nothing that outright resists Grass and is also immune to Gogoat's Bulldoze outside of an underleveled Zubat. Options will have to be weighted.

Yeah I'm definitely going to try again, I did have fun. I was just thinking that of bouncing back and forth between games each time I have to restart, but it might be better to just stick to one game at a time since the stats/mechanics change a little with some of them.

Though I am thinking of sitting down and attempting to Nuzlocke all of the vanilla games. Start with FR/LG until I finally have a successful run, then move onto HG/SS, then Gen 3, and so on. Run the full gamut of games.

Thank god he had an Abra that only knew Teleport. His Pidgeotto and Bulbasaur did a number on team. Bulbasaur's Sleep/Poison Powder was obnoxious, and half of my team is weak to flying. Thankfully Abra gave me a bit of a breather to heal up before his bottom percentage Rattata.

Also I caught a Quiet Oddish on Route 24, which is yet another weak-to-flying Pokemon for my team. We'll see how that goes. I also encountered an Abra on Route 25, but it broke out of my Pokeball and teleported away. Onwards and upwards though.

Alright, guys. Got through Victory Road unscathed and have done all the pre-E4 level grinding. I'll probably challenge them later today, wish me luck.

Here again from a while back and with a new template.

Casualties have mounted up a bit - a counter from a Sawk in Korrina's Gym after an Aerial Ace sent Icarus plummeting out of the sky, and a Belly Drummed Hariyama tanked Br'er's Psybeam on the switch and killed him with Smelling Salts. Was miffed, to say the least.

Made a few interesting captures - as you may see, I have caught a Clauncher on Route 8 despite having a Drifloon, but I do consider the upper and lower portion of Route 8 to be distinct. Latest death is my Staravia, who fell against my own Horsea while it was in the wild. Hopefully she can shine - ability helps immensely, too, and the nature isn't that bad if I can get her to Kingdra.

Okay here we go

Siebold: Led off with Serperior. I set up one Coil and was able to take out Clawitzer and Barbaracle easily. He switched to Gyarados, next. Fearing an Ice Fang I switched to Ferrothorn to whittle him down with Toxic and the Iron Barbs/Rocky Helmet combo. He went for Dragon Dance+Earthquake first, a little worrying as it doesn't count as a contact move. I start getting damage on it with Power Whip but it misses once so I have to heal. Unfortunately, Toxic does not completely take it out, but on the healing turn I go for Curse and try to set up Toxic again. It misses THREE times. It keeps setting up Dragon Dance to +5 (very scary) so I risk a switch to Drifblim. I manage to score a critical hit on Thunderbolt and take it out. I return to Ferrothorn when Starmie comes out and go straight for Power Whip, which OHKOs it.

I got really lucky on that Gyarados; it could have swept me without that crit. Gotta be more careful.

Malva: I lead off with my own Gyarados. I did NOT know Pyroar carries Wild Charge, and go with a Dragon Dance. I live with a little under half health thanks to all those Defense EVs and take it down with Waterfall. Torkoal goes down no problem. Talonflame unexpectedly outspeeds Gyarados and goes for Brave Bird. I live with 6 HP, and take it out with Waterfall.

Tragedy strikes, however, when Flame Body activates and Gyarados dies to burn damage. RIP Gyarados, 1-70.

I send Florges out to deal with Chandelure. I Moonblast despite resist hoping for a SAtk drop, as Florges is basically a SDef wall. It finally happens, one Full Restore and 5 turns later, but I'm forced to heal. A lot of turns pass, and luck is on my side as I burn straight through a Confuse Ray to bring in the win.

Bummed about Gyarados, but she did perform her biggest role for the E4, at least.

Wikstrom: I lead with Delphox and go for the Calm Mind against his Klefki. It Torments before I take it out, so I have to switch to Ferrothorn (vs Probopass). I decide to set up Curse for a few turns as its Earth Power is barely leaving a dent in me. This is a good place to burn his Full Restores, which I do, and take it out with Power Whip and eventually Iron Head.

Aegislash comes out; the major reason for all those Curses. Ferrothorn eats a Sacred Sword admirably, but misses the Power Whip to take it out. I heal instead of risking an Attack drop. I eventually take it out from all the residual damage.

I switch to Delphox when Scizor comes out. Flamethrower takes it out, obviously.

That Aegislash was scary; got Ferrothorn into the red but he stuck through like the true bro he is. I didn't know that I'd use him at all for this fight.

I actually forgot she starts with Dragalge (whoops) so I had to do some backtracking and send Ferrothorn out (muh bro) who walls it completely and takes it down with two Iron Heads. Muh broooo.
Anyway, back to Florges. That Noivern has Super Fang (wot) and I have to heal but do take it out. Florges OHKOs everything else. Fairies are to be feared.

Diantha: I lead with Delphox against that Hawlucha. Psychic OHKOs it. Florges OHKOs Tyrantum. Aurorus sets up Reflect against Ferrothorn so I can't OHKO it with Iron Head, but I crit next turn and do it anyway. Goodra tanks the hell out of Moonblast but Florges laughs off Fire Blast and takes it out.
I send in Drifblim against Gourgeist and OHKO with Shadow Ball. I send out Serperior against Gardevoir since I've barely used it and set up a Leech Seed for shits. That Moonblast hits like a fucking truck so I switch back to Ferrothorn. Iron Head takes it out.

Overall, Diantha is a huge fucking pushover, christ.

It's over. We managed to beat the Elite Four and the Champ.

ClubbrLang took care of all of Lorelei's pokemon except Slowbro, who was beaten by Fat Man.

Egg Head Defeated all of Bruno's pokemon with only minor injuries from Machamp.

Egg Head managed to beat Agatha's ghosts but Big Mama died beating Arbok. Golbat was beaten by Nessie.

Lance's Gyarados was beaten by Fat Man with Yawn, followed by a few Body Slams. The rest of Lance's pokemon were beaten by a Hail/Blizzard combo from Nessie.

Rival Borf was almost too much to handle. His Pidgeot, Rhydon, and Exeggutor were all beaten by Nessie. When Alakazam came in, I switched to Fat Man only to be hit with a critical Psychic. Fat Man got one good body Slam in and paralyzed him but was killed. ClubbrLang came in with a Cross Chop and beat down Alakazam. Borf's Gyarados opened with Thrash and ClubbrLang countered, killing him in one hit. When Charizard hit the field I switched into Blob, who was promptly killed. I needed another turn to heal Nessie so Egg Head went in and was also killed. Nessie came out with a critical Surf and killed Charizard in one hit.

I think I'm gonna take a break from Nuzlocke runs for a while. This one was a bit much.

That Mienfoo you see? The result of me hunting because I caught one before and it was Modest, and being the unsatisfied little shit I am, I rummaged through Route 8 for another.

Guess I may have to restart on principle, because I'm also terrible at abiding by rules.
