To be honest I thought it was going to be dead by now but surprisingly it has even more people than before.
It's pretty populated and there's no "endgame", really. You first end the FireRed storyline and then you just do whatever you want.

As someone who still plays the game, I can say that some channels are worse at this than others. Generally Chan 1 & 2 are notorious for this, along with anything to do with global, but as long as you stay away from them, you'll probably be a lot better off.

And before anyone says anything, I know the game isn't the best in the world, infact it;s pretty crap, but I stick with it because I made friends there. If it wasn't for them, I would have quit months ago.

Generally, Chan1 is usually full of beggars and noobs, 2chan is filled with...those sorts of people (it's generally pretty easy to tell when someone normally stays in 2chan and heads over to a different one), and the rest are rather mellow.

Oh, the game is real alright. However, it's mechanically different compared to the actual Mystery Dungeon games. By different, I not only mean functionally, but it's also really, really buggy. I also get a ton of lag from their servers.

It's been around for a while. It does show a lot of promise, but it still has a lot of serious issues.

It's called PMUniverse. Look it up.

I haven't played it in a long time, and I haven't gotten far because of the immense lag I was experiencing. From what I've seen, however, the community is decently sized. Everywhere I went there was at least one or two other people in earshot. The forums make it look pretty active as well.

It's been forever, so I can't really speak of how it is now.

It would be hard, if not outright frustrating, to have a turn-based dungeon crawling system in an MMO. So the turn-based function is the first to go.

Coupled with the lag, it's what prevented me from enjoying it.

I recently returned to playing after their servers came back up after a few months of being down, the lag issue has been pretty much resolved since they dumped a bunch of cash on fancy new serversl it used to be absolutely hellish about a year ago but the dev team is working its ass off to fix it up. I almost feel bad because the community is 90% 12 year olds and a tiny bit of mature people who care how hard they work for the game.

Feel free to try it if you like, it's hard as all fuck since the turns are timed and the community is /mostly/ bad, but it's still fun if you enjoy PMD
