I don't think it would really benefit all that much, to be honest.

Think about it: Does anyone ever use moves that increase a single stat by one stage? Because that's what self-targeting with those abilities would be, if not worse.

Flareon would actually be good or at least not the worst eeveelution anymore

>jolly flareon with 252 in atk and speed
>use flame charge
>it hits you for low damage
>raises your speed by one stage
>flash fire raises your fire attacks
>flare blitz/return everything

If Flame Charge doesn't successfully hit, it doesn't raise speed.

Never did I state what it was being outclassed by. There are literally dozens of bulky Water-types to choose from, and some of them have Recover or are named Manaphy.

Flash Fire would prevent it from doing any damage, and I think it would also negate the Speed boost. +1 Flareon's speed is still underwhelming, and you don't have enough HP to survive too many turns of Flare Blitz recoil.

Well then a Flareon with toxic orb could still work, Flame Charge yourself for +1 speed, toxic orb activates Guts and then Flare Blitz/Return everything

Why would you Flame Charge yourself in that situation? Just attack the opponent and hope to break a Sash/Sturdy.
