What is /vp/'s favourite places in the pokémon world? Why is it that place? Music? Scenery? Pokémon that can be caught there?

For me it's the national park in Johto. When I was a kid playing gold and silver I would come back every tuesday, thursday and saturday to take part in the bug catching contest just because I love bug pokémon. The music was so relaxing and comfortable and the scenery added to the overall effect.

Me too for some reason. I'm not sure why because I never did any breeding in GSC and the route itself is exceptionally short. Maybe it's because the Lass had a Bulbasaur and I thought it was unusual, or maybe it was because you could catch Ditto and Abra there.

My favorite place in any Pokemon game is probably Route 41. Something about the beaches of Olivine and the relaxing surf theme from Gold and Silver. So nostalgic.

Goldenrod City, it probably is entirely nostalgia.

Just that first moment when I entered it as a child, the music fit perfectly and it was so much bigger than any other city in Johto so far. Then you had the railroad running through it, the radio tower and the underground. It all contributed to the sense that this was a real bustling city

I'd like to suggest Sootopolis as a close second. It's completely gorgeous, and the idea of a canalled city in the middle of a flooded volcanic crater is really striking.

Northern Sinnoh is still my fav area of any game. It all felt every different from the rest of the region with the eerie calm of Snowpoint City and the blinding blizzard of Route 217. The nice Pokemon selection didn't hurt either.

Slateport City is on the top of my list because it feels "active" in a "festival-style" way. It's hard to describe in words but I like it a whole lot and it's honestly the first city that comes to mind.

Honorable mentions are Lumiose City (3D effect adds a lot), Hearthome City (name), National Park (design and music), Canalave City (music), Routes 216-217 (the only snow paths done right), and Goldenrod City (lots to explore).

This was hands down the best route of the series in terms of sheer content. You get a rival battle, a gang fight, and HM, and an exclusive NPC trainer programming.

Not to mention the full-screen bridge crossing right in the middle.

i remember not realizing that once you got cut from the captain you were supposed to go back to cerulean and go east to get to rock tunnel. so when the ship sailed away, i thought i'd fucked up, because i was supposed to be on it. and there was this one NPC in vermilion who said "oh, the ship set sail. she'll be back in about a year." and i started crying because i thought i had to wait a year real-time to finish the game. i was... pretty dumb.

The rain makes it for me. I really hope they reintroduce the rain to more routes and strong sunlight too. It was weird that it rained all over Hoenn but never any sun.

Music is tends to be the reason behind my favorite spots.
That being said, it's basically anywhere Sinnoh.
Eterna Forest, Hearthome City, Snowpoint city, the Underground was neat, Spear Pillar had some good dread music to it, any pokemon center at Night as well, Mt. Coronet was superb as well.

In Johto, The Burned Tower, Tin Tower, The Dance Theater, and The Sprout Tower.

In Kalos, Anistar City absolutely, the best city music of any Gen, also the gates were cozy as fuck.

Well actually Venice is very accessable on foot. Gondolas are easy route across a canal, and then there are canal tours no doubt, but you can get just about anywhere on foot.
It's messy as hell though, and easy to get lost.

I remember this route for one reason!
I was just going through the grass and there it
was, my first shiny encounter, the Silver Arbok.
I remember running up to my Dad and was
hype as hell, come to think of it I didn't even
know that it was shiny it was just SILVER !
So here comes the sad part, after catching it
I wanted to see it's color in pokemon stadium
and sadly it was purple. So I left it on the cart
not knowing what to do. Ended up selling the
cart when we moved to Europa, so somewhere
out there my shiny arbok is just chillen
