>>18350461Eh, in gamefreak's defense regarding Gen 1 names and designs, they thought it was going to be a one-off title and didn't expect the huge popularity that turned it into a franchise. There's a reason the Gen 1 games were so glitchy and a little lackluster compared to titles that came after. As much as I love it, there wasn't as much effort put into it as later entires simply because they weren't trying as hard to impress anyone. I mean, seriously, Charizard's japanese name was Lizardo, and Blastoise was Kamex (literally Turtle + X).
All the ones that come after though really have no excuse.
