What the fuck, /vp/. I was told the Unova movies all sucked ass.
I just saw these two on Netlfix, and I was surprised how many feel-worthy moments it had. It's probably now in my top 5 Pokemon movies

What did you guys think of it?
Also, favorite Pokemon movie discussion.

Movie 2000 is a favorite if only because of Lugia. Pokeshippers ruin it for me though. Same with Latiasfags ruining Heroes.

They weren't terrible. They were about as much as we could expect from the anime, considering the circumstances. It was originally planned as a series-long plot, but because of the 2011 earthquake was crammed into a 15-episode arc (which is weird, considering it was followed by the pointless DA arc). As long as you have realistic expectations about it, the Plasma arc wasn't that bad.

The Galactic arc was much, much better, though.

It was pretty fucking bad.

Now, whether they really had to modify the anime to work around something that they had planned is debatable. But the fact is that it looks like it fucked up a lot of plans for B/W. I'm not giving the writers a free pass, but I think the comparative shittiness of the B/W arc is at least slightly attributable to the writers not being able to go ahead with whatever plot they had planned.

Everything up to Nimbasa had been planned by the time the TR vs TP thing was vaporized. After that, they still had a chance to put it back in somehow, but they didn't do it for whatever reason.

Most likely, that's when they got the note that B2W2 would be sequel games with an entirely different Plasma story, so they decided to just wait and adapt that instead of airing the two episodes they had already made and then having to scramble to work in both iterations of Plasma into the plot.

The Victini one is actually quite good. Genesect VS Mewtwo has its moments too.

But DONT watch the Keldeo movie, it's the most absolute goddamn awful Pokemon movie there is. Ash doesn't even show up for 20 minutes, and by the time he shows up, you are actually thankful.

Yes, HAPPY that Ash has showed up to give you a break from the trash that is the musketeers, I couldn't believe it too.

Best movies are the Sinnoh movies.

Don't blame the Earthquake for everything. They set up Episode N as something really cool and the reason they rushed the even worse Unova League. Charizard was coming back and the opening implied it would face off with Reshiram. Charizard came back and had one good episode before just being there, and Reshiram barely did anything in its episode. N was alright but was barely used.

Watched them, thought they were garbage. The dragonforce didn't make any goddamned sense to me, but I might not have been paying enough attention. Also Victini was fucking annoying and all of the characters were unlikable, as usual.

The only thing that I thought was interesting about them was the Black movie/White movie gimmick, and the only differences were swapped shiny colors, some exclusives, and swapped roles for Zekrom/Reshiram, I think? Yawn.

Honestly I have no idea how people list 2000 among their favorites.

Lugia is the shit.

Kyurem and the Swords of Justice was one of the best BECAUSE Ash wasn't in it much. Kyurem and Keldeo's conflict was much more interesting than anything Ash would have contributed.

The Sinnoh trilogy is also good, with Arceus and the Jewel of Life being the best and Giratina and the Sky Warrior being the worst.

Zoroark was really good too. I like Genesect and the Legend Awakened, but I'm not butthurt over Femtwo.

Destiny Deoxys is a decent alien invasion movie.

Jirachi Wishmaker is absolute garbage

Ok, I assume you have already seen The First Movie and Pokemon 2000, so I'll give you a run down of the others:

>Celebi: Voice of the Forest
Has a few Rocket and Prof Oak character building moments, but otherwise shit

>Pokemon Heroes
Beautiful setting and music with a Venice theme. Definitely recommend

>Jirachi: Wishmaker
Starts strong but goes full retard very quickly. SKIP

>Destiny Deoxys
Godzilla meets Pokemon. Also has the PARTY TIME! and based Munchlax.

>Lucario and the Mystery of Mew
Has a few cool concepts but VERY overrated. Does have the Regi's which are worth watching because they're genuinely intimidating.

>Pokemon Ranger
Very underrated in my opinion, but nothing AMAZING

>Sinnoh Creation God Trilogy
Best movies. The Shaymin/Giratina one (second of the Trilogy) is the weakest, but still enjoyable in the grand scheme of things.

>Zoroark
Has the Crown Beasts and Celebi. One of the best

>Victini
VERY underrated, and biggest feels moment since Ash turned to stone

>Keldeo
Utter shit.

>Genesect Vs Mewtwo
Some nice moments, but nothing special.

I really liked this film.

It's just a shame that Zoroark didn't end up being as badass as I thought it would be in the games, but the movie was great. Shiny legendary beasts, Celebi, and a pretty decent villain.

I think the 'dragon force' thing is actually based on Chinese mythology. Something about it sounded really familiar but I can't place it. My one problem with that movie was that it took a full hour before anything even really happened.

then again I thought the Genesect movie was exactly what I expected from a Genesect vs. Mewtwo plot and Femtwo didn't bother me because I don't think the movie would really have been that different even if it was the original male Mewtwo.

How can anyone not say Spell of the Unown is the best? I'd even say it's the only pokemon movie that's actually legit good. The plot is actually very poignant, telling the story of a girl who's not willing to face reality after her father 'dies'. The scope isn't "ASH IS THE CHOSEN ONE DESTINED TO SAVE THE WORLD" but it's just Ash trying to rescue his mother, it's much more personal.
Also, there's something I noticed in lots of the pokemon movies. THERE AREN'T ANY MEMORABLE BATTLES. This one has several, including an awesome underwater battle and the GOAT Charizard vs Entei battle.
