>>18457956I'm not quite that bad (I hope). I don't have to use full art foils or anything, but when I am playing Legacy decks that are mainly old border cards everything needs to be old border that was printed in old border, regardless of how bad the rules text on them may be, I would rather have no foils in a deck than 7 cards out of 75 foiled or whatever, stuff like that. The only exceptions are my EDH deck (where I stick to the tradition of it being stuff you had that wasn't in your decks, so I have a mix of foil and non foil), quick playtest/fun deck builds, and decks that I build around a certain card (which tend to have that card in foil and the rest of the deck non foil). Oh, one more exception - I play with white border lands in tournaments that I know have people that get arced up over white border, just to throw them a little bit (when other people resort to time stalling, major gamesmanship, hurrying, crap like that, I think it is fair that I use a little bit of gamesmanship by using legal lands that some people don't like).
Also, is it worth it to invest in cards from sets before XY, or should I work on making a "block" deck for now so that I don't lose value at rotation? I know that Pokemon TCG has less tendency to have true "block monster" decks, but I would rather avoid dropping money on a set of Darkrais that are going to rotate without me getting a full cycle of play from them.
