If there's a guy out there named "Joe" whose mom confiscated your GBA and gave it to goodwill? That game and system kept me from going insane with boredom when I had no internet or telephone...

Same here. My brother and I used to play the games together for a while, but he grew out of it at Gen III, while I still continued to play up to this day.

I played the second version of the first two gens, so Blue and Silver for me, while he got Red and Gold. We split on the third versions, so I got Yellow and he got Crystal.

Ι think what he meant is that the japanese blue version is pretty much the Blue version we all played in the USA, Europe and Australia.

It's the japanese Red version that got changed compared to the western one

We eventually got him the Blue version since he already owned Red for quite some time. I still have and use the case of my old gamebiy pocket and my Colour is still fully functional as well as my Red version. Good times.

I got a super gameboy for my snes and pokemon red for christmas. I got into pokemon pretty early because I lived in guam at the time and guam was filled with japanese people in certain towns. Playing pokemon on super gameboy is glorious because all the towns and pokemon are the correct colors.

My older brother was the one with the gameboy and he got red. He let me play it for a little bit but always told me never to save, I think bulbasaur was his starter and I remember him saying to just use tackle cause growl didn't do anything.

I don't remember when i was able to start my own file but when I did I picked squirtle because blastoise was fucking cool

My older brother had got Yellow in the years previous and I borrowed it from him during childhood. He passed it down to me shortly after I got Crystal, I traded TCG to a friend for Blue, and another friend gifted me her copy of Red that she never played anymore.
