On X, caught a Remoraid in Azure Bay. Thought it'd be filler until I could get another water type, but it only had to level once to evolve and it it's ridiculous move pool is making it pretty bro-tier.

Prolly best part about Nuzlocke's is finding which Pokemon you'd never choose to use and turning out to be good.

Most annoying thing about nuzelock HG this far: it takes *forever* to get pokeballs. and you have to hike across 3 routes before you even get your rival.

Meaning my starter was already level 10 by the time I could catch anyone else.

I don't count pokemon encountered before you get pokeballs against the nuzelock rules. Saved me so much heartache.

not sure on how can you transfer a gen3 to a gen4, maybe there's an emulator that can do this transfer with 2 roms

then you just open the gen4 save with pokegen and extract the .pkm of the shiny and send to a gen4 with pokegts or gen5 with pokecheck

my point was that if its from a normal rom it's a legit pokemon as if you were playing a real gen3 game, and from romhacks you can get weird things like wild event legends that even if they pass the shitty hack checks on the games, they are still considered hacked

Working on a wonderlocke for X. It's too easy right now because of the exp boost the pokemon get. Any way to make it harder? Right now my rules are I can't get a new pokemon until I get to a new route instead of trading for a new one right away. No exp share and only one Potion for gym leader fights. Even with 0 grinding my pokemon are way over leveled.

So, yeah, sniveling guy here from the last thread. Decided to start anew after best laid plans went wrong and I'm off to a great start, losing Chespin to Viola's Vivillon because I thought I could switch and get it with a Rollout after she used her one potion. Fletchling also got beaned by a Riolu's counter.

It amazes me how bad I am at this.

Narrowly escaped the second battle alive. Got hit with sleep and poison. Only reason why I didn't white out was because Marill decided to use Defense Curl instead of water gun a second time. I don't think it's possible for me to beat the gym leader. You can't really grind in Black, and I only have two pokemon, one of which is a relatively low level. I might have to break my rules with this match. It's literally just about impossible.

What I'll do is try it once without items, then see if it's possible to do. If I white out, I'll try it again with items. Here we go.

you need to grind puckatan to 14 to beat the gym. It's a rotation battle with all the water starters and you will need magical leaf or hone claws + cut (cut is grass now)

Need a suggestion.
Should I use the global Exp Share or not?
I feel like I would be overleveled and it'd make the challenge too easy.
However leveling a whole team without a single exp share is kinda time wasting.

Aaaand, we have our first badge. I had to bring Lucky back from the dead, seeing as to how the game literally wouldn't let me start the battle without a third pokemon. Didn't actually use Lucky, though.

Puckatan ripped shit up with Cut. That's pretty much it. Only had to break one rule, and Lucky goes back into the PC after this. We make it out with no casualties, and Peppers evolved at the end.

Well, I was a great bleeding infant and let my defeatism get the better of me in my previous attempt.

For the sake of redemption and not to immerse myself in self-loathing, and for the sake of the fallen - Shu Lien, Prinzessin, Klendathu, all the rest - I'm doing another run.

As mentioned when my mood was still kind of sour, I ended up losing Chespin to Viola's Vivillon because of cockiness, and a Fletching got killed by a Riolu's counter. Having been training and progressing since, my Pikachu just fell to that blasted Furfrou duo.

Three deaths already...but I am moving along, still.

This might be the last update for tonight. In short, we continue our beginning pokemon adventures. Team Plasma, once again, tries to make shenanigans by stealing a kid's pokemon. Cheren and I kick some ass and get her pokemon back. Unfortunately, they put up a fight. Puckatan goes down to one of the Grunts. He doesn't go down without a fight, though.

We also meet a couple new friends. Duffska, the Phanpy and Rokmas, the Geodude. Caught Da Ruckus, the Spinda back in the Dreamyard. Although we've lost a friend, we march onwards.

RNG had something to talk about my lvl 50 and movesets

after going throught the elite with no problem I reached lance, dragondanced to max with gyarados, when the victory seemed certain after defeating both his gyarados and aerodactyl, lance sent his dragonite with thunder. I icebited it aaaand it MISSED, fucking 95%, just to receive back a superefective thunder in my face.
After that the team had some troubles to take the other dragonites with those silly full restores. Xatu didnt resist but weakened the stronger dragonite just enough so ampharos could destroy it. Ampharos got on red when trying to destroy the others but with Golem's help, everything went fine.

One more update for the night.

Things are going well. Yay. Got a number of good catches in recently passed-through areas, and another Mienfoo at Route 8. Hopefully this will turn out better.

Gloom is turning out to be pretty good, and while I have a Leaf Stone in my possession that I will not use just yet, I am also not too far from trading the intriguing stone for a Sun Stone in Shalour. Bellossom would be interesting to have, though I'd lose a potential Fairy counter even if Bufo covers that.

I've never finished White, never started White 2, and also have a bootleg HeartGold where roaming legendaries don't show up (not a problem for nuzelock; I don't take gift pokemon, stationary pokemon, or roaming pokemon).

Ok beat down Morty no trouble, got through most of his team with Persian then got close to dying and swapped Bellsprout as a sacrifice and brought Porygon in and took out his Haunter with it, then swept rest of team with Bite Jolteon.

Have swapped Pory out til I get the upgrade and evolve him, and brought Drowzee and Duskull onto the team for Chuck and leveling team up to 38 now.

Am I the only one who can never finish nuzlocke/challenge runs of Fire Red and Leaf Green not because of difficulty but because they just get boring half-way through? After fighting all the trainers around and running into a couple of Audinos, levels go way up. Tympole is still hard to train, but I got his level up. We face N in Nacrene, but due to accuracy shenanigans, Duffska ends up falling to his Bronzor and Tympole(Seriously, where the hell did he get those pokemon?). We make it through the rest of the battle alive and proceed to take on the gym.

R.I.P. Duffska. You were a real pal. This is just like my Sacred Gold run...

I wasn't expecting that at all. Things started off rough. I tried to get Da Rucks to lead with his newly-learned Hypnosis attack, but the game did not want to give me the hit. I missed three times. In the meantime, I had Peppers using Flame Charge and Arm Thrust. Unfortunately, both were taken out with a combination of Retaliates and critical hits. Really cheap strategy, Lenora. It worked, though. I lost two of my partners. Rokmas and Tan were able to hold them off with Rock Smash, Aqua Ring, and Bubblebeam. I earn my badge. I lose half of my squad.

After mourning the loss of, well, the very core of the team, we wipe up our tears, and as we have done before, We march on.

A brief run down would be:

>You can only reach 4th stages
>Revives can't be used in battles
>You only have super potions up until Cinnabar Island
>Gyms go 30s, 50s, 70s, 90s, 100s
>May seem like grinding but the time it takes you to get through Viridian forest, mt moon, rock tunnel as well as getting the rematch watch thing will make it better.
>Viridian forest, Mt Moon, Rock tunnel, and Victory Road are some insane mazes and you can only see half a step next to you.
>Your Rival, Gym leaders, Elite 4, and all of Giovanni's people are crazy broken. Their teams are loaded with Legendaries, 4th, and 5th stages with broken movesets.
>Everyone basically one shots or 2 shots you by the end of the game.

Lost sandslash to Morty's gengar crit dream eater. Also lost Rocky, leaving me without a ground type. Ended up with 3 water types. Then RNG blessed me with skarmory. First time I've ever caught one in a nuzlocke.

Attempting to cross into Kanto, my run met its end with Magneton, which two-hit Muscles the machoke and left my team open to a massacre.

What rules do you go by if you know specific threats are imminent, do you prepare by grinding? Do you seek out optional areas to expand your roster? Do you face the inevitable with grim determination?

Game over in the most bullshit way possible. Ranger in Pinwheel Forest poisoned Hope, so I switched out to Tan La Day. Ranger got a critical hit with Scyther, and knocked out Tan. Switched back to Hope, and she got hit with a wing attack, bringing her down to 4HP. Poison took care of the rest.

My attempt at sending out Lucario alongside Floette against the Brains and Brawn duo had risks attached, and they made themselves abundantly apparent - I had him around to assist Floette and perhaps paralyze either Machoke or Mime with Force Palm, but, even after assistance from other party members and being weakened by a Psybeam, he ate a Low Sweep that I thought he could withstand and promptly bit the dust. Tyrunt followed not long after as it and Schnappi whittled down a Psychic's Sigilyph; Sigilyph was ultimately quicker on the draw as I moved for a finishing Rock Tomb and killed her with a Psybeam. Also lost a Doduo to a crit Bubble Beam courtesy of a trainer's Tentacool.

A shame, and a particularly hard loss in Lucario's case, but I move on. Dwebble joins my team from Cyllage, and Solosis from Reflection Cave.

Nope. Brave Charmander (if only it was X, not Y...); Serious Squirtle, Modest Honedge (departed), Relaxed Pidove...
but I've got nice, Adamant, Dratini and Shroomish (none HA - shroom is Effect Spore), but fist has Dragon Rush and second Focus Punch). And the latter one is 3-IV if the markings are right.

Just beat the Brains&Brawn duo in front of Reflection Cave, and really, it was far from a groundbreaking battle - Charmeleon used Shadow Claw to almost OHKO Mime, and Tranquill's Air Cutter finished the job. Except it missed Machoke and the upcoming Low Sweep left it on red. Another AC miss while I switch to Dratini, another LS bringing to red (plus Rocky Helmet). Third time's the charm, while Frogadier (Impish, Torrent, Hon's replacement) gets free exp

Well, you have Michael for Pyroar, and even though you don't have hard counters for Honchkrow or Mienshao, they're both cases of Pokemon that die if you sneeze on 'em hard enough given their frailty.

Gyarados...is actually easier to deal with as a Mega, because Dark/Water opens up a bunch of weaknesses. And seeing how Magnezone's dead - a shame you didn't get a Magneton with Levitate, mind you - the only hard counter to Gyarados you have is that Chinchou there, and Lanturn's offence isn't the best.

SS Anne went smoothly, even Blue was a push over suprisingly. Went into Lt. Surge's gym confident.

3-Dug swept the entire gym. It was all looking good. Then Lt. Surge sent out his final Pokemon - Raichu. Raised it's evasion, dodged everything, and wiped out 3-Dug. Thankfully I managed to handle it with the rest of the team, but 3-Dug will be missed. He was damn great against those electrics.

Replaced 3-Dug with Buttons, my Meowth. However, she was killed by a wild Rattata on Lv. 9 that was 2 levels above her and somehow 1HKO'd her. The Rattata was my first encounter on Route 9, so I caught it and made it my Cut slave.

Onwards to Rock Cave.

About to fight rock gym leader, but I had sadness training in route 10.

Doing a wonderlocke, so my starter gave me a female eevee breeding reject with godly attack. The second pokemon I caught gave onto me an amaura male. I called them Emmy and Armond.

I also have a modest female roselia (Risa), brave male frogadier (Frank), and adamant female krokodile (Kesha). But that's irrelevant.

Here we're Emmy and Armond, training side by side. Fire fang after Refrigerated take down, the levels slowly rising. Until everyone but Armond was 25. Never one to be out down Armond decided to jump into battle without me even noticing, his prey one we have never encountered before. A bird type monster, with glyphs all around.

Of course Armond didn't hesitate, his nature also brave with a temper quick to fester.

'It has wings therefore it will die.' He said. I saw that expression in his eyes. One battle away from matching his friends and eternal love, Emmy. They have been together since level 1 on the first route.

So onwards he goes, an aurora beam set to kill. Until one fatal mistake was drawn.

Armond didn't give me a chance to heal him before jumping in, his health at half yellow.

His bravery was his downfall.

A psybeam issued first by this demon beast promptly fell Armond, and it happene so quickly no one was sure it really did. Emmy was in shock so Kesha jumped in, biting this monster twice with flinching. I like to think even though Kesha was the most recent addition, they had established a friendship. Both love to just barge into battle.

With the bird fallen we all turned and stared, for Emmy approached the fallen dinosaur, her steps hesitant.

We all turned away as she cried out in the morning sun.

It's a lot of fun. I just posted my story some posts above with the Amoura I lost.

I'm usually terrible at keeping with a Nuzlocke since I don't wanna give pokemon up, but for some reason I've been able to keep with this. It's fun having the mystery of what you're gonna get, and your fallen pokemon don't seem so dead since you're letting someone else have a chance with them.

It is kinda lame though that a majority of the pokemon wonder traded, at least for me, will be breeding rejects. So you will get an abnormal amount of level 1s which is a little frustrating when your pokemon get in 20+ range.

I highly recommend though, with exp share off of course

Wonder Trade is a lot better than it was on release because a lot of breeders use it to dump their 3-4 perfect IV "reject" Pokémon, so you have a reasonable chance of getting something like a level one x/31/31/31/x/31 Protean Froakie in exchange for your Spewpa
It's good to impose some rules for what you can accept, or otherwise you'll be stuck with things like a Level 50 Golem that won't listen to you for most of the game.

X and Y nuzlockes are pretty easy even without the EXP share, so Wonder Trade gives a lot of variety.

Speaking of Wonderlocks, I'm trying to figure out how to start one myself. Basically it's just a standard Nuzlocke run, except every new Pokemon you get you have to Wondertrade away right?

I've heard some variations abotu catching six Pokemon ASAP and then Wondertrading them all away, but I think I'd rather just do it like a normal Nuzlocke - one Pokemon per area.

Also I'd probably do a self-imposed rule of no dupes past or present, as well as having a level cap. If it's too high a level Wondertrade it until you get something within a certain range.

So, i just made this thing called regionlocke:

The rules are the following:

You can only catch first pokemon in the route/building

If a pokemon faints, it dies

Starter Pokémon is based off your
Trainer ID number. If the last number
is 1-3 the player starts with a Grass type,
4-6 is Fire type,
7-9 is Water type,
0 is the player's choice.

Now here is the tricky part

I can only have a team made of different region
pokemon, 1 from each region, making it a team of 5 pokemon if you play it in gen 5, 4 if you play it on gen 4 and etc.
NOTE: this is reccomended to be done on a hack that can allow a large amount of pokemons from different regions

Branched evolutions count as the pokemon original
relase:

Example: roselia is from gen 3, but roserade
and budew are from gen IV, since roselia is the
first that came, roserade and budew count
as gen 3 pokemon. or lickylicky being gen 1 or
porygon 2 and porygon z being gen 1.

You must nickname all your pokemon.

I think I've determined for my Wonderlocke that I'll be retrading any Pokemon I receive that are more than 5 levels higher than the original Pokemon I sent out.

That way I'm not way overlevelled.

It was pretty fun but also hard because sometimes i got stuck because the region rule and i only had kanto and johto pokemons on the PC.

Just finished the campaign on my B&W Nuzlocke run.

After fucking Cheren killed my Gothitelle, Maralyn, with a Crit Flamethrower + Burn Tick (what an asshole) in our final battle, I had to take on the Elite 4 with a 5 man team and brought along the Vullaby, Isis, I picked up on Victory Road to soak some EXP.

Things went pretty swimmingly, and Isis even got to save the day despite being totally untrained. Shauntal's Cofagrigus was capable of sweeping both of my surviving tanks (My own Cofagrigus with Shadow Ball and my Venipede with Psychic) but Isis was perfectly suited to cock blocking her and Faint Attacked he shit into the ground in an epic battle. Unfortunately Isis went on to die when that cheating bitch Caitlin's Gothitelle got a crit Shadow Ball after a Calm Mind. She survived the swap in non-crit SB with exactly 2/3rds of her health left, so it was a real kick in the teeth.

Anyway I went on to take on N, and since it was DESTINY because I had one open slot on my team and nobody from my reserves above level 30, I went in with Reshiram. I had one loss, my oldest surviving and most beloved mon Evergreen the Leavanny, who died to a Stone Edge critical after Carracosta got Sturdy against my Leaf Blade (FUCK THAT SHIT), but it was otherwise a clean sweep.

And then came the final battle against Ghestis. It was nothing short of a disaster. His Bouffalant committed suicide to kill my Meinshao, Lin. And with my Lin and Evergreen both gone, there was nothing to stop his Hydreigon. And to cap off everything, that mother fucker went FOUR FOR FOUR ON CRITS. Two Dragon Pulses, One Fire Blast, One Focus Blast, and four kills.

Evil has won in the Unova Region. Fucking devil dragons...

my second white nuzlocke, I lost half my team in the elite 4 due to just barely living attacks and critting me in return, by the time I made it to Dennis I only had 3 people against his entire team. I was fucked beyond belief.

i can catch it, since it was the first encounter BUT, since i cant keep same region pokemon on my team i have to decide between it and the misdreavus, which one stays on the party and which one goes to the Pc

Finished my Wonderlocke, got traded a level 65 goodra on my second last capture, that was a huge boon.

I ended up losing 27 pokemon across the run, but I managed to beat the Elite 4 with Protean Greninja, Starmie, Goodra, and Toxicroak.

Just obtained the Bug Badge. This wonderlocke has been a breeze so far. Hardest part was getting Fennekin and Murkrow up past level 1 in the first route. After that it's been smooth sailing.

I've really lucked out with my trades so far. They're all really strong, since apparently a lot of breeders dump their un-perfect mons into WT these days. Growlithe is the weakest of the bunch, but I love him.

I am concerned that their boosted exp is really going to be pushing them over the levels of trainers I find. It hasn't really been much of a challenge so far, hopefully it picks up soon.

Well, seeing as to how Roxie K.O.'d me, I think I might need to change my rules. It's getting to be impossible to beat these challenges. I either need to allow some grinding or allow myself to use healing items. It's really not possible otherwise.

Approaching Flawless Platinum with a slight change in rules.

It was another goddamn Pidgey, so I let it be and moved on. If I find that this run is also impossible, even with a little use of items, then I'll give my rules another tweaking. Grinding is still a no-no, though.

venusaur, Roserade (was a fucking monster), crobat, toxicroak (weakest link personally, it just didn't kill enough and took too long to get decent. I wish I replaced it with tentacruel or Quilfish earlier), Nidoking, and Skuntank (a personal favorite of mine, and drapion takes too long to get)

I'm in the middle of Sapphire Nuzlocke, and hating it. Already lost once (started with Watson's Voltorb Self-Destructing on Linoone, snowballed from there). I'm not sure how to feel about this. It's hidden ability, but I've used a meowstic before and it was incredibly mediocre. I think I'll just move it to the PC for Shedinja to have room when it happens.

So i had a whole thing written out and it got deleted.

About to fight second gym, Cyllage City. Just lost Armon the Amaura which was really rough. I've had him and my flareon Emmy since the beginning, as starter and route 1 capture.

We lost to a wild siglyph of all things. Jerk's psybeam was too much for a half hp dinosaur apparently. Haven't had a chance to reincarnate Armon, but I'm sure whoever it is will be as brave as that poor guy.

Update in a bit. Have to smash some rocks for pent up anger.

If you aren't doing gym leader challenge you are shiiiiit

1) choose a ROM
2) choose a type
3) replace your starter with a non-pseudo and non-starter (or pseudostarter) from that type
4) catch only a pokemon from each route if it is both a) your type b) the first pokemon you encounter in that route
5) no pokemon in your part can exceed the next gym leader's highest level pokemon

Eat dirt, scrub. You're going to beat the E4 with four monsters at level 65 and be fucking rock hard at your own awesomeness while you do it.

I have the worst luck with Gym Leaders.
Just beat Jasmine with a casuality because my finger slipped and switched in Jumpluff over Nidoqueen, where I then switched into Bayleef and got critted to death by an Iron tail from Steelix.

Too bad though. Onwards, we head to the Lake of Rage in an attempt to catch the Gyarados

Got everyone leveled up for Team Flare's Secret HQ.

I really need a special attacker. If I won't get a Torkoal or a Heatmor at route 18, my only option against Wulfric's Avalugg is teaching Michael Focus Blast.

You should be able to make the chat pop out, and you can just use that to respond to people.
You also need to link to your account by name, not what livestream gives you as the default url. If you look up above, JFT links his stream properly. Link it like that
