Does anyone else just not give a SHIT about breeding/IV training/natures or any of that? Pokemon is a game and the main purpose is to have fun. I don't even bother trying to EV or IV train any of my pokemon. Anyone else do this?

Most people don't give a shit because they don't know/care about competitive pokemon.

Those things make all the difference in the world but outside of competitive they don't really matter. The main purpose of most games is to have fun but if you're not playing competively you're basically playing a game designed for babies and gloating about it.

I used to not give a shit but started doing it in gen V. You can say the point of playing a game is for fun but then, WINNING is pretty fun too. And when you can cut someone else's poke in half with an Ambipom using fake-out it get's pretty dang fun.

Breeding, training and competitive battling are fun, though. I think they're funner than the main game, especially XY that has very little in actual content and is easy as fuck unless you play battle maison, in which you would probably need to at least EV train your pokemon with good natures.

If you only do the main game the only thing you need to worry about in your team is having a HM slave to use when needed.

If you want to do Battle Tower/Frontier/Subway/Maison you have to worry about balancing your team, having good movesets and preferably natures and EVs. As long as your IVs aren't all really really low you can do fine without them.

If you want to play competitive, then you have to worry about everything because you it's expected to have the best you can if you are going to compete and no one else will use subpar stuff.

I care about EVs now that Gen6 has made them so piss-easy to see and tweak. Proper distribution does make your Pokemon a lot more effective overall. I've transferred my in-game teams from Gens3-5 where I never EV trained, and it's amazing what a difference Super Training as made for them.

Don't care about IVs unless the Pokemon has a 0 in its primary attack or defense stat, or it's something I got from Friend Safari. I breed, but only for Pokemon I need or for certain egg moves.

also Natures are pretty important, but IVs barely make a fucking difference unless it's 0 IVs going against 31 - it's only 31 points at level 100
