Why does Mega Lati@s exist when Lati@s with Soul Dew has far better stats than the megas? Don't tell me Gamefreak plans to just get rid of soul dew altogether?

they're too busy catering to already powerful, popular Pokemon rather than weaker Pokemon that would benefit significantly from mega evolution ;)

Did you know soul dew couldnt be used for competitive battles in gen 5? I fully expect GF to remove it this time becuase they think its too broken. it might return in R/S remakes but as a way to get the megastone for the eon twins.

Arguably, it is. Latios and Latias basically switch in with a free calm mind, and they have ot give up their item slot which isnt a big deal since only paralysis fucks them over.

mega latios/as will probably only get their movie post Z release. And by then, when corocoro leaks them, they will look different.

I think the mega latis are only in Y because they are a filler so people with X/Y can see the megas while people with Z will be able ot see the true mega latis forme

Just like with the kami trio in gen 5. Only people with black2 and white 2 could see the therian formes, while the black/white couldnt

The Soul Dew is in the game's code, since it shows up in the Banned Items list in the Battle Maison. I'm pretty sure you'll be able to get it in a future event, if not, there'll be a PowerSave code for it.

Their abilities alone make them better than the soul dew ones. Latios getting Adaptability makes him more broken then Mega-Luke. Multiscale Dragon/Fairy Latias is too OP to even bother discussing.

Real evos can have any stat gain they want, unlike Megas which are stuck with 100. Magikarp gains 340 BST, for example.

Mega Stones can't be knocked off like Soul Dew, Soul Dew doesn't give boosts in defense and attack (Mega Latios can easily run a Mixed or a DD set unlike normal Latios), Soul Dew is banned from both official rules and Smogon rules.

I find them kind of useful (granted I haven't used them yet but I especially want to use Mega Latios) and it's (to me) an interesting substitute for the Soul Dew because unlike that item, the mega stones are NOT banned.
