/vp/, if you had to choose, what's your favourite Pokemon type? And your favourite within that type? Are they viable competitively, or are they just a bro?

My favourite type is pic related - has been since gen 1. My favourite individual pokemon is probably the evolutionary line of Gengar; although I also really like Drifloon and Pumpkaboo too.

One thing that always puzzled me is the fact that Gengar can't learn shadow sneak. I know it'd be completely useless on it, but surely it would make sense for it to be able to learn it?

It's hard to choose a favorite- my shiny Vivillon, probably- she's a winner. But I love them all, even the little useless ones like Weedle and Venonat.

I honestly don't have a favourite type, they all have their pros and cons. If I had to build a monotype team though it'd probably be Flying type. Can easily build a balanced team whilst only including 'mons that I really like in it.

In generations 1-3 it was definitely Fire. Arcanine was my bro, and stayed that way until gen 4 when I really got into Poison. I ran the entire game with my Minimize Muk (before faggots decided luck is a bad strategy) and have kept one on my playthroughs in every gen since.

All in all, Gengar, Arcanine, and Muk are tied for my favorite of all time.

My favorite used to be Normal, until my Normal bros all got re-typed to Fairy. I'm not at all complaining though - the "Light" Normals should have been given a different type a while ago, so this was like extended gratification.

Fuck yeah my bugbro. Bugs may suck competitively, but I just love them all so much. Mothim, Venomoth, Vespiquen, Scolipede, Heracross, Pinsir, Galvantula, Volcarona... there's not a Bug Type I dislike. (There are some I feel meh about, though.)

Ice monotype is brutal but I can't help it even if it isn't competitively viable all the time. Weavile's my favourite competitively among ice types.

Ghost comes a close second.

Ever since Gen I and this motherfucker, I've always loved Psychic-type mons. I know that Psychic was OP as shit back then, and both Steel and Dark were made in part to deal with it (along with fixing Psychic's immunity to Ghost and making good bug moves like Megahorn). But whenever I think about this series, I always remember just how much ass this guy destroyed for me.

He's among the glassiest of glass cannons, sure, but no one likes taking a BP 135 Psychic attack in the face with 369 SpAtk to back it up. And that's before he mega-evolves.

I love water type the most, to the point where I commit to always picking the water starter(except in nuzlockes) I can't even think of a water pokemon off the top of my head that I hate.

My favorite one right now is this guy because I had no idea what it was going to look like and it was such a pleasant surprise, especially when it learned WATER SHURIKEN.

GOAT Fire monotype.

My favorite would be tied between Poison and Rock. Dat Muk, dat Golem. My favorite monotype is Arcanine, fave overall is Nidoking.

I used to not dig the Nidoran lines, just because they were Poison-type and Poison was stupidly common in Gen I. But the Physical/Special split in Gen IV was really kind to the Nidoran families, giving them really strong offensive options. Sheer Force as a HA in Gen V and getting STAB-Supers in Gen VI has only made them even more awesome. So I guess what I'm trying to say is that when it comes to Nidoking, you've got good taste.
