Well I was looking to get into the doubles format since it seems very interesting. Should I play by VGC rules? (if you search on-cartridge with battle spot, are VGC rules the rules that are used?)

I noticed that VGC is essentially pre-pokebank which is actually stupid as fuck.. That really limits the strategies you can do..

What do you guys think, is VGC rule set worth learning?

The reason I want to switch is because 6v6 singles is essentially a dead metagame on cartridge and nobody plays it.
I'm not sure if I should learn battlespot 3v3 or battlespot doubles format instead.
