Yeah, Gen 5 has a psychic, rock and fighting type that all get to their final forms by trading and they have two fighting Pokemon that specialize in a certain form of fighting. There are more similarities, but I can't think of them

Yeah, I get that Megas are theoretically a gameplay innovation, Game Freak, but having literally no one but old faces to show it off is by far the most retarded design choice I have ever heard of.

Gen 2 fans are pretty much just Gen 1 fans, though. It was "Pokemon RBY, and then some," which is why it seemed so awesome.

All the most popular Gen 2 mons are either cross-gen evos, legendaries, or were very prominent in the anime (Togepi and Wobbuffet). Tyranitar and Heracross are the only ones that became really popular on their own merit. (No, I'm not calling your Gen 2 bro shit. I'm just talking about popularity.)
