What could be done to fix the Pokemon anime? What would you guys like to see if they were to completely tear it down and redo it?

-Give it an actual plot, maybe even an original plot
-Stop targeting <10 year olds, target the 14-17 crowd, the pokemon fanbase has largely grown up
-Basically just make it more "mature"

Follow proper in game mechanics better (specifically typing, make the battles just make more sense in general.
I think remember seeing a battle where it was grass on grass and one kept getting hit but was still "holding on" while the other was completely avoiding attacks, then the other got hit once and was KO'd, made no sense

Make the seasons self-contained instead of having to resort to the idiocy the series uses to constantly nerf Pikachu and shelf Ash's team.

Less painful characterization would be nice too, as well as actively playing with the boundaries of the TV-Y7 rating it has to deliver a strong and not necessarily constantly-saccharine plot.

Giving some less popular Pokemon consistent screentime alongside the reliable merch-shifters would be nice too.

Different protagonists for each series which have a definite ending. Sort of like Pokemon Special only less grimdark and more funny. Make them loosely follow the plot of each game.

See, this is great. They must realize that this is miles above what they're producing for the anime, surely. Even with budget taken into consideration.

Which makes me think that they really don't care. The pokemon anime is just a marketing tool, and I don't think the quality bothers them so much as being able to sell merchandise/

If you take an entire anime saga, put it in 5 minutes with 5 one minute long action scenes, it would look good, yes.

They don't even need to remove Ash. Just make him less of a dumbass and make him learn how to evolve Pokemon and know type matchups. Make the plot at least a little similar to the games too, not just a few episodes.

I also always imagined Jessie, James and Meowth would get fired from Team Rocket for being incompetent and then join the next team of the generation and that would continue each region. It would at least make them relevant.

Literally all they need to do to make the anime 100 times better is to get rid of team fucking rocket. Every single fucking episode is team rocket trying to cause trouble and then blasting off. Get rid of that shit and the writing will gradually improve because they'll compensate by creating small story arcs.

Thing is, when I watched Pokémon as a ten-year-old, even back then I knew Ash was totally shit and thought the anime would be better with competent characters and an actual ongoing plot like most other children's anime have.
It doesn't have to be crap to be child-friendly.

Shit they were doing fine with the first 8 or so XY episodes. Mini-arcs, an actual plot over arching plot (AshxSerana is the next GS ball).

Even the first few fillers weren't that bad. That saihorn ep was great, Ash didnt pull a win out of his ass despite being a first timer against pros because hes the protag.

The hell?! The writing was pretty good, what happened pokemon?! Serana hasn't done anything and since there really isn't some lame mini-game for her to promote she is becoming the new Iris...

After she had that pro moment with the magnemite... used a fire attack without hesitation after Ashderp used froakie. /tableflip

Maybe bring back old characters once in a blue moon like having the enemy team just to steal the new trainer's starter only to have the old character stomp the team member's face in.

Let the current one continue but do a second series like the B/W2 promo anime. Just one 20 or so episode anime for each gen with the characters from that gen. Switch it up between male protagonists and female protagonists starting with gen III.

That's what I'd do anyway.

Origins was a genwunner shitfest filled with pandering to the charizard community, completely ignoring the other two starters and marketing shoved towards the end. There was no development for Red, you never saw him go through the gyms etc

Also, this is just my opinion, but I felt that they fucked up what they should have focused on. I wouldn't have focused so much as to make an entire episode about Marowak and Pokemon Tower
