If you're trying to get HP ice on a charizard then you're probably going for charizard-Y, so you won't have much used for attack. 30 speed would mean getting outsped by anything else with 100 base speed, so if you want HP ice you should try for 31/x/30/31/31/31 since you don't need attack for Y anyway

or Trick-Scarf Jynx with dual ice/psych coverage and lovely kiss + rotom with ChestoRest, dual STAB and will-o-wisp/volt switch

Pls advise, I like the idea of nasty plot jynx, but for it to set up with ease and no sash available I'd need to use 3 move slots for sleep, subbing and plot and then only have access to ice or psychic coverage

On the other hand, running trick on Jynx gives me an option to take focus blast for steel coverage, and rock.
(Mono ice team im running on showdown)

Trying to work a mono-ice team in showdown, last two slots hold Jynx/Rotom-F

I'm thinking that one of them can run trick, then the other has to follow a conventional set. Jynx has more sweeping power if she can set-up, but she loses coverage if you want to set up safely using sub/kiss/plot meaning only one attacking move

Rotom can hold things like volt switch on a trick set, meaning he can escape into froslass on my team if a fighting attack is inbound. If he takes a more conventional set
(as a result of Jynx taking a trick set to keep dual coverage and late game sweep potential WITHOUT set up)
Then he loses volt-switch in favour of holding something like Rest/Will-o-Wisp/Blizzard/TBolt while having a ChestoRest set instead.

Clearer?

(+6 att Bisharp against fragile Zoroark would anyway kill with anything.) Iron Head with the chance to flinch would've worked out better but it is easy to tell me that now. :D

Anyway, thanks again. I've had the adrenaline rush of the evening. The best match I've had since my purchase of this game. Maybe if I build another (more competitive) team someday I'll gladly have a rematch.

I have been wondering to myself if attack investment is really with it though. If bred in gen 5 you can get giga drain via tutor and with an HP investment it might be worth it. That's even more to the point that it should have been stronger before gen 6; if presented with the option between a 75 power drain attack and a 80 power 10% SpDef drop attack, I don't think many would choose the latter, so it makes sense to make it stronger to compensate for an unreliable secondary effect as opposed to a (somewhat) reliable secondary effect with Giga Drain's healing, especially when considering the point in my previous post.

I realize not all Pokémon that could learn one of the moves could learn the other, but for those that could, there wasn't much to consider when deciding on a move.

I hope you're not suggesting Shadow Ball should have been buffed, because it has the advantage of belonging to one of the best attacking types anyway.

Oh right, I didn't realize you were discussing the fact that Energy Ball was initially 80 and not the fact that it's now 90.
On that subject Giga Drain was 60 in gen IV so the damage difference wasn't a problem at the time. I think the reason was still that Shadow Ball, naming schemes make more sense then any deep competitive balance effort from Gamefreak. They're both Ball moves even in Japanese.

I am often confused by no one using greninjas access to priority. I believe it gets shadow sneak and being able to dodge predicted physical hits is kinda awesome. You don't even necessarily need to invest in attack just use the priority for dodging and resisting

It wouldn't, really, and certainly not enough to justify losing HP Fire. The only situation it significantly helps is against Conkeldurrs and other pure fighting types, but then you're usually fine using hydro pump instead or just getting mach punched in the face.

I've tried it actually, the problem is normal and fighting type attacks aren't that common. If you were battling in a metagame with lots of Blazikens or Medichams, then dodging a High Jump Kick would be fun.

It may be more viable in Ubers actually.

Ditch most of that. The main useful thing mixedoom gets is Sucker Punch, the rest should pretty much be special - a fire attack and something else (I like Sludge Bomb). You've got access to Nasty Plot if you so choose, and MegaHoundoom should really only be used under sunlight, with a mostly special move set.

Thank you both! I figured Sucker Punch was the important thing, just wasn't sure. (Since its already pretty fast, but hey, priority.)

Nasty Plot
Flamethrower
Dark Pulse (or Sludge Bomb)
Sucker Punch (or Sludge Bomb)

set sound good? Then the spread would be 252/252 (SpAtt/Speed) I'd assume.

a specially/mixed defensive megasaur might be cool. it resists fighting, fairy, water, grass, and is neutral to bug and ice. meanwhile, krook can switch into psychics quite well, and deals with fliers decently as most [read: talonflame, mega pinsir] are physical.

Christ I am pissed as hell.
I just fought my real life rival sure that I would win. My team is very well built and I knew I would destroy him.

He starts our with the biggest crit of his life that killed my most important fucking pokemon, my mega. Then he gets ANOTHER crit at a HUGE moment. He finishes by getting 2 paralyze hax in a row. Even despite this, I lost by a margin of 4 HP. I am fucking pissed, I deserved that fucking win and I didn't get a single crit or luck factor that mattered, he even hit 3 focus blasts in a row that if just ONE of them had missed, I would have won hands down.
