So how have your hunts be going ladies and gents?

I managed to finally get my golden goblin on Wednesday, after 620 eggs!

Next up is Shiny Luxray, and I've restarted my Heart Gold in an attempt to start the game with a shiny starter. Chikorita perferably so I can transfer it to Y and add it to my list!

So how is everyone's hunt going this week?

I got my shiny Phanpy on Monday, box 10 egg 17. Little fella was even Penta-perfect. Then whilst EV-training him I found a shiny Whismur. Since then I've taken to the arduous task of MMing Lileep.

Speaking of which, would anybody like one? They're Bold, 5IV, have their HA and 3 egg moves (Recover, Curse and Mirror Coat)?

I also thought up of a new way to hatch. I tried the way that's listed in the FAQ, but I could never consistently keep the 3>2>3>2>3>2 that it asked for. So I'm collecting boxes of eggs in multiples of 5, then hatching a batch of 5 eggs in lumiose, go back, collect an egg, hatch another 5 eggs, go back, collect another egg, and so on. After 5 boxes, you'll have another box to hatch. So after 10, 2 new boxes, 15, 3 new boxes, and so on. I find it more efficient, since you have to look at the screen to get the boxes, and after you've hatched 1 batch, there should be an egg waiting for you, so you don't miss out like the FAQ says.

I think after I capsule him, i'll level it up till it evolves, then try a battle test to see if he'll pair well with my meowstic. I feel that maybe after a DD and a KO I wouldn't be able to really tell the difference?

The theory is that there is a 1/?? chance of entering a "lucky" Safari where the first encounter of one of the three Pokemon will be Shiny.

Many of us actually did get Shinies like that while testing it, which means it actually works, or there was some absurd luck that night.

I'm of the mind that IVs aren't everything. I don't really have a head for math, so I can't average out how many points i'm losing with that low of an attack, but its got perfect IV's everywhere else. If he doesn't work out, i'll set it back to lvl 1 and I guess trade it away.

I've played a few hours of Stick of Truth. Pretty fun, it's challenging, funny, and doesn't hold your hand. The constant references are a little too much though, it's like they're trying to reference every single episode.

Some Safari times "seems" to be more generous with shiny than others. Still waiting for more data.
My personal data is 12 shinies over 6730 encounters. That to be said, the first 5000 were done in a safari and gave me 10 shinies. while the one I currently roam only gave me one in 1730... It might just even up later, though. Computer random and all. It migh make me try another safari for another 5000 encounter when I'm finished with that one. More data seems to be needed.

I haven't got a clue, you'd have to ask Lucca about it. It's based on his hypothesis that one Safari is a "lucky safari" and this lucky safari changes every time you re-enter a safari or something.

You may say it doesn't make sense, but quite a few people trying it out found shinies.

At level 50 it's a 13 point difference. It makes quite a difference. Sure you may have a pretty high Attack after a DD and Moxie boost, but if you'd had a better Attack IV that Attack stat would be even more devastating.

It's up to you, but if it were me I'd not settle for anything other than a penta-perfect Scraggy, seeing as you need all the bulk, speed and power you can get if you want to survive Fairies.

Persistence I guess. You can get them in less than an hour if you know how, and don't care about IV's, so it's not too hard.

Breeding/SR'ing for Shinies will take a little more time, but if you do it while watching tv and shit, you'll get it in what feels like no time at all.

When it comes down to it, it's all luck though. Some people will get their shiny fairly quickly, others may spend over a month hatching eggs to get what they want

I've had the strangest luck with shinies lately. Almost every one I've come across has been part of a random encounter. But the new methods introduced in X and Y have opened new possibilities.

The Safari, for example, has netted me a pair of Magmar. The first one is Calm, while the second is Modest, which isn't half-bad.

The Horde method has worked, as well. Last week it got me a Gligar, while just last night I found a Foongus. Currently trying to find a white Trevenant, but given my luck I should stumble across one soon enough.

I don't think you can hunt certain ones because they're shiny-locked. Otherwise you just SR in the game you find them in. If it's Emerald or post-Emerald you use a Pokémon with Synchronise so you get the right nature.

By the way, what's the best way to MM? I tend to gather eggs until I have 5, ride around until one hatches, then box it and grab another and cycle through like that. Is there a better way to do this, cause its kinda tedious.

Well, I keep a box for each typing (2 for Normal and Water) and one more box for Ditto (Nature and 0 & 30 IVs). Add in a box or two for trading goods, it's easy to get overcrowded.

Not to mention I have a wip box just to breed female pokemon to get on my shiny Fire set

i think its because its got so much going for breeding and shiny hunting this gen. It's easier to breed this gen with destiny knot, the radar is back, friend safaris exist, shiny charm is still around and the oval charm helps too. The shiny rates are increased and HATCHING POWER. It's just got a lot going for it.

This week has been VERY productive for me. Two days ago, I caught a shiny Bunnelby I'm planning to evolve (Diggersby tho), and last day, I got nothing less than THREE shinies while EV training my old ones - Two female Stunky and a male Nidoran.

I've also taken a decision - Since I have two pink Mareeps and I made one into an Ampharos, I'm gonna take the second Mareep to level 100 without evolving it.

It'll be the dawn of Moutmout the Great. Be ready.

I used to use a dime.
I stopped when a bit of plastic came out with it.
I just pushed it back in, circle pad works fine, I just use a small piece of cardstock now.
