Breeding? Team building?

I just beat Pokemon Y and I have no clue how breeding works, nor do I really understand how to build a team. This would be my first time actually trying to get into competitive Pokemon, and I'd like to know if there are any good guides on breeding and making a team?

Do friend safari. Go to a FS thread here or elsewhere and get someone with a ditto safari. Get a shitton of dittos. You'll need these for passing down natures and IVs.

For building a team, I was told picking one pokemon and building around that is a good way to go. Alternatively, just make a list of pokemon you want to use, and pick out from that.
For breeding, it's best to just look that up on bulbapedia or Serebii. Basically you have your two parents and you can pass down certain moves, as well as natures and IV stat boosters.

Hatched Pokemon start at level 1, right? Whats the easiest way to level them up? Is Super Training the best way to EV train or is there a better method?

Super training is not the best way. Power bands and hoard encounters are the fastest way to Ev train them, then leveling up is pretty straight-forward, fight high level opponents same as always.

To build a team, just pick a Pokémon or gimmick that you like and go from there.
If it's a gimmick, search out Pokémon who are good with that
gimmick
If you pick a Pokémon, start covering its weaknesses then covering those mons' weaknesses until you're team's all full.

By the way, a lot of people on here give out breeding rejects with decent IVs. They're a good starting point for your own projects.
