Ash hasn't battle Gary since that League battle, and Sinnoh Ash was actually competent as fuck.

It's too early yet, but I hope we get another competent Ash like his Sinnoh version again. If he does get an Amaura in the next few episodes, I hope the anime actually makes it useful rather than making it become Bayleef 2.0
