I think it's the fact that Fairy is only resisted by Steel and Poison, two types he's already destroying thanks to Earth Power. Also gives him a way to fuck up Dragons other than Ice Beam.

Is it worth it to not have a response to Ground types, though? Ice Beam is the only option I can really think of for Nidoking against Ground types, and it also seems to be the best option for Moonblast to replace. Dark and Fighting would be the two types that gains coverage against, losing that Ground coverage. And being 2x weak to ground himself, I'm not sure if Nidoking should lose that.

Ice Beam, for me, is the superior option. Most Dragons are X4 weak to Ice, plus it has the added benefit of hitting flying, grass and the aforementioned ground types hard
