Dunno about the flying thing.

However, the ground is where electricity end it's journey and die. It's the end of the lighning. It's the security device. You have to GROUND the circuit for it to be safe. That's why ground kill electrik.

Dunno about flying but as for Ground types - they represent the earthy ground itself, not a 'grounded' anything. It absorbs the electricity and is largely unaffected by it.

well yes, that's the idea

I mean normally fish (and most aquatic life forms, really) are incredibly sensitive to temperature changes and would be weak to both fire and ice, but water in itself absorbs temperature pretty well.

As for fulgurite, that's pretty neat. It's pretty much natural glass, yeah?

I mean one could justify water resisting ghost and and possibly fairy because of how in some ghosts (and vampires too, I think?) cannot cross running water.

I think it's one of my earliest memories. Also I guess lightning is attracted to the highest point, which may be birds.

Why isn't ghost type weak to psychic? Anyone with psychic power is intelligent enough to rationalize that ghosts can't exist. Psychic type attacks should always nearly KO a ghost type.

We don't have giant yellow birds that shoot lightning in our universe either, doesn't mean psychic types should be super effective against them because they "rationalize that giant yellow birds that shoot lightning don't exist". Because they do.

i think it would make most sense if they were neutral on each other rather than water resisting ice. or giving ice a resist to water to make it less shit of a type defensively. the only advantage they should have on each other is freeze-dry being effective on water and scald being effective on ice

OP is technically right. Lightning strikes aren't one way; the first branch to reach the ground basically pulls the innate electricity out of the ground to reach an equilibrium. A slow motion lightning strike goes down, then back UP with greater intensity. A bird not touching the ground wouldn't have much electricity to give back, so the amount that would travel to it would be low.

Think of static electricity. It works like that. A discharge occurs for the sole purpose of reaching homeostasis in electrical charge. Bird types would be logically less affected by electricity and ground types should have the most to lose. The immunity to electricity is just done because of "grounding". Its based on a misunderstanding of how electricity works.
