Using trip codes is ok when you want to identify yourself in a thread to avoid others pretending to be you. However, most trip flags use them all the time to try to become "celebrities" on a website that tries to be as anonymous as possible.

The entire scizor line have been my favorites ever since I first got one from the game corner in fire red. It was the first pokemon I ever saw with false swipe and I used him to catch most of my living pokedex. I also like the fact that my bro has been good competitively for as long as I can remember.

If you're going to restart Y, maybe you should try a nuzlocke. I know I started getting attached to certain pokemon I normally wouldn't have used but the risk of having to release them made their victories that much better.

Pic related. My bro who came through and surprised me many times in my sapphire nuzlocke.

How do I use a "tripcode"?
Tripcodes can help verify a user's identity to others, and are a type of pseudo-registration. To use a normal tripcode, place a hash mark ("#") followed by a word or short phrase after what you've entered into the [Name] field (ex. "User#password"). Upon submission, the server will generate the hash unique to that particular word or phrase. The previous example would display "User !ozOtJW9BFA" after being posted.

Important note: A tripcode is generated only using the text entered after the hash mark. Your entered name, IP address, cookie information, etc. do not affect the output. Normal tripcodes are not secure, and can be cracked with relative ease. For a more secure solution, see secure tripcodes.
What is a "secure tripcode"?
A secure tripcode can be generated by placing two hash marks in the [Name] field, as opposed to one as with a normal tripcode (ex. "User##password"). Secure tripcodes use a secret key file on the server to help obscure their password. The previous example would display "User !!rEkSWzi2+mz" after being posted.

The only reason I did the nuzlocke in the first place was because I was bored and beat all the games already. The nuzlocke did make it more interesting in some aspects. It forces you to use pokemon you might never have bothered to use before and some can surprise you in matches. I always avoided the crobat line but damn, once it evolved it turned into an in game rape machine.

The only tedious part is when you lose a pokemon you have to level them up to your survivors. I wanted there to be challenge in my nuzlocke so I checked bulbapedia to make sure my pokemon weren't higher than the gym leader's and elite four's teams when I went to challenge them. I ended up losing all my team except for my crobat Smiley 3 times during the run, so the level grinding might be tedious.

But yeah, if I'd have never tried the nuzlocke I'd have never saw how awesome crobat is. Smiley pulled off so many hail Marys when I thought I was gonna lose, he's earned a spot in my team no matter what anyone else says. It's the history you have with a pokemon that determines how much you like it and Smiley didn't disappoint.

If you're going to try a nuzlocke, I think you should try a previous gen since gen VI is way to easy to have a challenge. I tried a nuzlocke on my first play through on X and by the time I reached the elite 4 my team was 20 levels above everyone and I had to try and avoid trainer battles and random encounters to try not to have my levels sky rocket.

I also forgot to mention if you don't want to release your pokemon you can put them in a graveyard box in your PC and just not use them. I highly recommend this if you get a shiny or a pokemon you need for the pokedex. No real reason to get rid of something you might want or need.

You don't have to pass up a shiny. A lot of people still catch them when they see them. Once it's caught you could save it in a box or trade it to another game. I know if I ever find a shiny on a nuzlocke I'm gonna be saying "fuck the rules, I'm catching this bitch."
