I'm 18 and my first Pokemon game was Diamond. I had been a fan of Pokemon during the Original Series but obviously I was too young to hang around kids. By the time I was an elementary schooler the fad days were gone and kids were trading Yugioh cards instead. I didn't even know of Hoenn until like 2003 - 2005 when I saw a random AG episode and thought "I didn't know this was still on.”
The closest I got to said experiences was being 14 or 15 and trading with a younger friend of mine in Gen 5. Stupid cheating Gameshark using brat always beat me in battles..
